This new Manari 52, the first model from the Miami-based brand, is extremely rapid by the standards of an IPS-equipped 52-footer. Equipped with a pair of Volvo Penta D8-IPS800 diesels and a hull form from Mulder Design, it will apparently reach speeds in the region of 45 knots.

It looks the part too, thanks to its clean, purist lines and sleek, low-slung superstructure. But if this boat excites with its pace and style, there’s nothing especially new or unusual about the main deck arrangement.

The aft end feels like a proper beach club

An aft sunbed leads onto a convertible dinette with a central table. Ahead of this, a transverse wet bar butts up against a bank of helm seats and it’s all orbited by a set of symmetrical side decks that lead forward to a second lounge in the bow.

Back aft, an open transom helps connect you to the water and that connection is augmented by a drop-down hydraulic swim platform, plus a pair of folding terraces – one on either side of the central sunbed. It’s clearly a sunny-weather, dayboat-centric, beach-club-style layout with ease of movement and open-air parties at its heart and in that regard, it ought to work well.

But there are some more surprising elements here too. There’s a neat walkway between the split wet bar and the two pairs of helm seats that enables you to move fore and aft along a walkway at the heart of the social zone.

The finer elements of detailing, like the subtle angles in the furniture and the stylish T-top that flares out above the cockpit dinette are also very pleasing. And while this is principally a day boat, it does a decent job for some relaxed weekending too.

The lower deck space is split between a forward owner’s cabin and a twin guest cabin amidships. Between them, a lounge on the port side looks across to a starboard bathroom and a breakfast bar. There is only one bathroom and there are no windows, nor an access door in the mid cabin; and cooking has to be done up at the open-air wet bar, so it’s by no means a genuine cruising machine. But long hull windows do a good job of brightening the lounge and the fit-out looks first-class.

Under the terms of the deal, Mattila will stay on to help with strategy and design for the next three years. Production of some boats is likely to move to the US, freeing up capacity at Saxdor’s Polish factories for newer, larger models.

Speaking exclusively to Motor Boat & Yachting, Mattila admitted that he had mixed feelings about selling the company he had worked so hard to grow but given his age (he turns 74 this summer) and the toll it takes on his personal life, the time was right to let someone else take the reins.

“There was no necessity to sell it, we are financially solid, but the deal was good for both of us,” confirms Mattila. “This lets me concentrate on design rather than running the company.”

Mattila, who also founded or co-founded a number of other leading boat brands such as Aquador, Paragon, XO and Axopar, recently won the Judges’ Special Award at the 2026 Motor Boat Awards.

The new Nimbus 12 series looks uncannily like a stretched version of the established Nimbus 11, and in many ways, it is.

For instance, it retains the same twin-stepped hull form as the award-winning Nimbus 11, so it’s reasonable to expect a low-planing threshold, very decent efficiency and user-friendly stability and dryness, even at serious speeds. And as you’d expect from this highly respected Swedish yard, it also retains the same triple-variant model line-up…

The Commuter 12 is all about comfy year-round recreation

The Tender 12 (or T12) is a versatile walkaround open sportsboat with plenty of open deck space and some usefully convertible furniture. The Weekender 12 (or W12) extends your weekending possibilities with a whole load of extra seating plus storage space for your baggage and water toys. And the Commuter 12 (or C12) enables year-round recreation and long-distance passages, courtesy of an enclosed pilothouse.

However, in spite of outward appearances, the new Nimbus 12 does incorporate hundreds of tweaks and improvements over what’s gone before – and all of them are inspired directly by feedback from the water.

There’s a new extended swim platform structurally integrated into the hull, plus a new helm seat design with enhanced ergonomics for reliable comfort during extended passages.

The starboard terrace is a neat new addition

The T12 variant also gets a longer, wider T-top with integrated solar panels and acrylic see-through glass sections, plus a folding starboard terrace directly next to the dinette to help extend the aft party space.

As for the accommodation, while pictures and details are still scarce, it would be reasonable to expect each of these variants to offer a pair of doubles, separated by a single heads compartment.

But in the case of the C12, even with the galley up, the new saloon layout is enough to provide a convertible sofa and black-out curtains so you can boost the sleeping capacity to six when required.

The Weekender 12 brings extra seating and storage to the party

Engine options look plentiful too. You can opt for twin Mercury V10 425hp outboards for speeds beyond 45 knots; and you can also opt for Mercury joystick control with integrated bow thruster right across the range. But if you go for the Commuter 12 or Tender 12, Volvo Penta inboards are also on the cards – and they too come with the option of a joystick as part of the assisted docking package.

This new Gran Turismo flagship is so far removed from the old GT50 that it’s like a boat from an entirely different product line. But given the style and playfulness of the smaller next-generation GT35 and GT40, recently unveiled in Cannes, the dynamic distinctiveness of this new boat makes a lot of sense. And yet, on the face of it, the external decks do seem to tread a relatively familiar line…

The bow’s island sunbed leads aft along symmetrical side decks to a cockpit with a central sun pad and dining unit, an open transom, a high-low platform and a pair of drop-down bulwarks.

The styling and deck layouts are on a completely different level to the old GT line

It’s a really generous space by the standards of a 50ft boat and it’s good to see that the dinette seating is nicely contoured to increase intimacy. But it’s not until you look at the internal design that the layout begins to feel genuinely different.

For a start, the big aft end keeps the saloon relatively short and the vast majority of it is taken up with a broad transverse galley, which leaves just the port door available for foot traffic.

The sociable helm set-up pushes the steps to port

Ahead of this is a wraparound seating unit that sits directly beside and ahead of the starboard helm, cutting into the dash moulding and dominating the centre of the boat. It might sound odd but, at a stroke, that creates one of the most inclusive and sociable driving positions you’re ever likely to encounter.

This same feature squeezes the staircase over to the port side, where it leads down to a very hard-working lower deck. There are twin and bunk cabins amidships, plus a bigger owner’s cabin in the bow and a pair of very decent bathrooms. Whether you will be able to spec that midships space as a full-beam owner’s cabin instead is currently unconfirmed but what is not in doubt is the style.

Apparently, the Japanese-inspired principles of Kanso (simplicity) and Yugen (gracefulness) are hard at work in the balance, clarity and elegance of this new boat – and while that looks to us very similar to the classical Nordic design principles of modesty and cleanliness, you also get the option of souping this boat up with the automotive-style special edition vibes of the Alpine pack.

If you opt for that, the GT50 is spiked with all manner of material and trim upgrades, plus a range of coloured hulls, stylish accents and an extra bit of choice
in relation to your engine options.

Very few modern shipyards (Axopar included) have forged a more powerful reputation for innovation than Saxdor. In fact, its capacity to create versatile spaces on modestly sized powerboats from 20 to 40ft has seen it become one of the world’s fastest growing powerboat brands, so the arrival of the all-new 46ft flagship is cause for serious excitement.

It all starts with a full-beam pilothouse that can be fully enclosed for year-round boating or fully opened up, both at the sides and at the back end, for summer parties.

With fold-out backrests at the big starboard dinette and the port bench, you can make brilliant use of the long drop-down bulwarks that marry up with the saloon’s side doors. And if you want to go a shade further, the provision of optional terrace-mounted hammocks is also a lovely touch.

The permanent outdoor spaces also look very positive. A clever (patent-pending) two-part door ahead of the port galley takes you forward to a big, safe convertible foredeck lounge. And further aft, the stern bench is framed by a half-height window and a port door so you can merge the saloon and cockpit into a single integrated space.

The cockpit itself comes with some useful layout options too. You can stick with a pair of sociable sofas and a table for easy dining in the lee of the superstructure; or you can go for a spacious sunbed on top of the optional aft cabin, taking the boat’s cruising capacity to six.

But either way, the twin cabin beneath the forward part of the saloon looks surprisingly spacious and the ensuite bow cabin also appears to make great use of the bow seats’ raised mouldings.

The early indications look good in terms of performance too. That proven twin-step hull form, with its soft-riding entry and robust bow flare, ought to mean a productive blend of efficiency, dryness and comfort. And while triple Mercury V8 300s ought to provide plenty of grunt for watersports, load carrying and family cruises, the option of twin V12 600s or triple V10 425s is also likely to be a bit of a tempter.

Fairline has revealed details of its first new boat since it was bought by new investors earlier this year. The targa 55 GTO is based on the hull and engineering platform of the award-winning squadron 58 but boasts a stylish new superstructure in keeping with its sportscruiser heritage.

The most distinctive design elements are the big new windows that stretch along both sides of the saloon and the adjoining glass buttress extensions which jut out into the cockpit. These overlap with the folding balconies, providing shelter from the breeze while still allowing clear views out from the cockpit.

Combined with an elegant swooping hardtop, it makes for a very clean, sleek profile that gives it a lighter, leaner look than the squadron 58 flybridge. It’s all part of lead designer christian gott’s vision of creating a better link between the boat and its surroundings.

“The focus has been on creating seamless connections, between cockpit and saloon, between water and deck, and between inside and out,” says gott. “It’s a yacht that celebrates the joy of open-air living while keeping true to fairline’s design heritage.”

The modifications don’t end there. The aft end has been completely reconfigured to create a flat-floored tender garage large enough for a williams 325 turbojet with a combined sunpad/seating unit above it.

Long saloon windows that extend out into the cockpit give it a leaner, lighter profile

Built-in lighting, refrigeration, seating and speakers convert this whole area into a mini beach club. There’s even a shower for rinsing off after a swim. To take advantage of this, the cockpit has been rearranged to make room for a large aft facing corner seat tucked behind that glazed starboard buttress and a matching triangular folding table that doubles in size to link it with the forward facing transom bench.

Opposite this is a wet bar that acts as an outside extension to the aft galley. The two folding balconies expand the deck area even further with space for a couple of chairs on the port one and mounts for a hammock on the starboard one.

Unlike the squadron 58, which has its patio-style doors set at an angle, the targa 55’s run at 90 degrees across the beam, sliding to starboard to leave a wide walkway into the galley. Matching flooring further blurs the boundaries between inside and out.

A change to carpet signals the transition from galley to lounge with a single large u-shaped seating/dining area to port opposite a sideboard storage unit incorporating a hi-lo television. Below decks, the targa 55 follows the same pattern as the squadron 58 with a full beam amidships owner’s suite, a forward vip with a dual access ensuite heads and a third twin guest cabin between them.

Power comes from a pair of twin volvo penta d13 shaft drive engine rated at 900hp or 1,000hp. No performance claims have yet been made for it but expect a slightly quicker top speed of around 34-35 knots.

The first targa 55 gto is due to hit the water in the second half of next year with prices starting from £1,650,000 ex vat and options. Paul taylor, one of the main investors behind new owners fairline holdco, told motor boat & yacht design that the targa 55 was just the first step in a number of new products being worked on. In the meantime the focus is on returning the business to profitability.

“With careful cost management, a new financing model and smarter working processes i can see fairline returning to profit at the end of 2026,” he said.

Alex Smith recently had the exclusive opportunity to sea trial the new flagship of the Aqua Spirit RIB range, the Aqua Spirit 700, and found a boat that breaks the mould in some very significant and welcome ways.

Built in Ukraine, this RIB is a compelling package that sets a new standard for durability, space, and efficiency. The most immediate difference is its construction. The Aqua Spirit 700 is built almost entirely from aluminium. The only components not made from aluminum are the windscreen, cushions, and the Hypalon collar itself.

But it’s the design of that collar that truly sets the 700 apart. Instead of a traditional round tube that eats into precious internal space, Aqua Spirit uses a D-tube design. By chopping a conventional 63cm tube in half, the boat retains its buoyancy and stability while freeing up an incredible amount of internal volume.

This, combined with a wider-than-average beam of 9ft 10in, allows for features rarely seen on a RIB of this size: spacious swim platforms, large aft and forward seating areas, and proper midship cleats.

further improving the space, the aft cockpit features a large C-shaped bench that can comfortably seat six people and easily converts into a sunbed. The forward seating area is also sociable, with a separate C-shaped section and forward-facing bench that can seat another four people.

Aqua Spirit has also provided storage throughout, with large lockers under the seats lined with ruberised material to reduce noise and prevent items from shifting. A cleverly designed helm console even provides a space for a portable toilet.

With a starting price of around £89,995, the Aqua Spirit 700 is not only a tough, versatile, and spacious RIB but also an incredibly well-priced one. It’s an ideal choice for anyone looking for a no-nonsense, low-maintenance boat that excels at day boating, family adventures, and is a whole lot of fun to drive.

Polish builder Galeon has been secretly developing a brand new compact explorer yacht in time for a surprise debut at this month’s Cannes Yachting Festival. While the yard is well known for its range of award-winning sportscruisers and flybridge yachts, this its first venture into the trawler yacht market.

Called the 430 Explorer, its full LOA is 45ft 9in, although much of that is accounted for by a lengthy aft bathing platform – its true waterline length is nearer 38ft. However, as with all Galeons, it’s not just the size that matters but the number of clever ideas and innovative features it packs into that space.

Foremost among these are two vast folding platforms that extend over 20ft forward from the transom to more than half way along the hull. In the raised position they form part of the protective side bulwarks but when folded down they link up with the cockpit to create a large extended deck area that wraps around both sides of the boat.

To make the most of this, the saloon features a large sliding door to port and a reversible backrest on the adjoining dinette sofa so guests can sit facing out over the sea with their feet resting on the balcony. On the starboard side, what appears to be a drop-down window above the galley countertop allows an equally close connection with the water.

To boost space inside the saloon, the main deck has an unusual asymmetric layout with no side deck to port and only a relatively slim one to starboard. This allows the main saloon to occupy almost the full beam amidships, with a large C-shaped dinette to port and an equally generous galley to starboard.

The forward half of the main deck is fully three steps higher, like a mini raised pilothouse. It comes complete with a second small seating area to port and a starboard-side helm with a bench seat for two. Crucially, there are also doors on both sides giving access to the forward side decks for putting out lines and fenders as well as a small foredeck lounge.

The two cabins are both packed into the forward half of the hull and accessed from a flight of stairs that begin their descent from behind the helm to a small lower lobby.

The owner’s cabin is in the bow with a conventional aft-facing double. The guest cabin is to port with a forward-facing double tucked up against the hull side. A single shared heads and shower-room occupies most of the starboard side, although there is a small utility space accessed from a door in the guest cabin.

One area of the boat that Galeon seems particularly proud of is the size of the flybridge. This manages to pack in all the essentials, such as a single-seat helm to port, a sun-pad opposite, an L-shaped wet-bar and radar mast behind it and a large U-shaped dinette aft.

For now, the only engines on the specification sheet are twin Volvo Penta D6-480s, which sounds pretty punchy considering the size and style of this boat. Galeon isn’t making any claims regarding performance but we reckon it might reach 30 knots or more.

Pricing is yet to be announced.

Remember the pretty little boat that ferries Daniel Craig’s James Bond down an Italian lake in Quantum of Solace? It was a beautifully restored version of Sunseeker’s very first boat, the Sovereign Hostess 17, and was being driven by Sunseeker’s founder, the late Robert Braithwaite.

Now the boat and his name are being revived by a new company set up to honour his legacy. Called Robert Braithwaite Boats, or RBB for short, it is building a limited edition run of brand new replica craft designed to look exactly like the boat that appeared in the movie.

The RBB19 is slightly larger than the original, to make room for a more powerful 250hp Yanmar 4LV250 diesel engine and sterndrive, but outwardly it is almost identical. The new model has a claimed top speed of 44 knots and a range of around 100 miles at 35 knots – more than enough to outrun any Bond villains.

Despite looking like the 1970 original, the RBB19 features all the latest mod cons, including a touchscreen MFD mounted in the centre console, a refrigerated locker between the two rear seats and a Zipwake automatic trim system. A Fusion sound system and removable ski pole should make it a hit with watersports fans too. Real teak decking on the bow and in the cockpit complements the cream coloured diamond stitched upholstery.

The project is said to have been started by Robert Braithwaite himself. He had the moulds for the RBB19 made while still in good health but the illness that ultimately led to his death in 2019 put a stop to the project. It has now been taken on by his eldest daughter, Nicola Braithwaite, with the help of family friend and co-founder of Sunseeker charters, Stefan Wertans.

Around seven of the new RBB19s will be built to order with prices starting at £190,000-£220,000 excluding taxes.

Bellini Yachts may be a new name to most of us but back in the 1960s, this family-owned Italian yard was building wooden runabouts of similar style and performance to Riva. Sadly, its founder Battista Bellini, fell ill in the early 1970s and production ceased a few years later.

The company shifted its focus to storage, sales, and restoration. However, in 2023, after a 50-year hiatus, a younger generation of Bellinis returned to their roots by launching the Bellini Astor 36, a brand-new GRP sportscruiser with all the style and glamour of its forebears.

Folding balconies are standard and add 2.1m to the beam

With styling by Brunello Acampora of Victory Design and input from none other than Norberto Ferretti, the new Bellini Astor 36 has some serious pedigree behind it. That shows not just in the styling, which does a good job of mixing classic retro proportions with sophisticated modern detailing, but also in the build – the lacklustre finishing and over zealous use of mastic that often betrays new boatbuilders are refreshingly absent.

There’s nothing wildly innovative about the layout but it ticks all the right boxes for an open Med-style sportscruiser. The folding balconies, which extend the beam to over 6m when open, are included in the price and the neat looking T-top provides just enough shade to protect the helm and dinette.

Open-plan lower deck is bright and practical

Hinged backrests on the two benches either side of the dinette allow occupants to sit facing each other when eating but then flip over so the middle row can face forwards underway. The back one then becomes the headrest for an extended aft sunpad, which also lifts up to reveal a large locker for lines, fenders and water toys – but not a tender as it’s too shallow for that.

Deep cockpit coamings at the aft end morph into shorter gunwales where the side decks rise up a couple of steps to meet the foredeck but they still feel relatively safe, especially when fitted with the plug-in carbon fibre stanchions and ropes that wrap around the bow.

There’s a useful amount of space around the island bed forward

A steep companionway leads down to the lower deck and once again, this appears better resolved than most newcomers. There are no hull windows but a deck hatch and vents provide natural light. It’s more spacious than we expected too, with an island bed forward and a small double mattress tucked behind the stairs.

There’s a wide choice of petrol and diesel sterndrive engine options and, unusually for a niche Italian brand, there’s a UK dealer, Sebino Yachts, based in Christchurch, Dorset. We’ve yet to test it but based on first impressions from the British Motor Yacht Show, we have high hopes for it.

Notwithstanding the electric 23ft powercat at the entry point to the De Antonio fleet, there’s a very distinct formula to the brand’s boats that has been really successful at everything from 29 to 50ft. But can it translate effectively onto a new De Antonio D60 flagship? Well De Antonio certainly appears to think so.

As the first in a new range of 18m+ motor yachts, the D60 uses a trademark stepped hull with a plumb bow, big windows and vertical sides. It also uses a layout centred on walkaround decks with a set of outboard engines hidden discreetly from view beneath an extended sunpad at the aft end.

Plentiful glazing enables you to open the saloon right up

That’s not to say that those engines are shy and retiring. On the contrary, the standard rig of quadruple Mercury V12 600s should be capable of propelling this boat to 46 knots, while delivering the clean looks and versatile day spaces that inboard lovers tend to value so highly.

As regards the classical three-way split of De Antonio dayboating spaces, that also resonates in this new design. At the stern, the big sheltered ten-man dining station backs onto a big raised sunpad with an integrated ice bucket at its heart.

A sunbed with Champagne bin conceals quadruple V12 600s

At the bow, various arrangements mix a range of sofas, sunbeds and tables with the option of an integrated hot tub. And inside the pilothouse, a fore-and-aft dining station, starboard settee and three-man helm station can either be cocooned inside glass for climate controlled shelter or opened up with big drop down side windows and sliding rear doors.

This is all supplemented with sunbeds on the forward part of the roof structure. And there’s some fresh innovation on the lower deck too. The standard layout features a central galley and day heads on an intermediate level between the main deck and cabins. This can be separated from, or integrated with, the main deck day spaces and it also helps add extra separation between the forward doubles and the huge midships owner’s cabin.

A 17ft beam and upright hull sides do good things below

Thanks to a 17ft beam, that owner’s cabin has space for a dresser, settee, large ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. There’s also a crew cabin in the forepeak and if you want to optimise this boat as a luxury cruiser for two couples rather than three, the bow cabins can also be combined into a single VIP suite.

Sirena Marine has chosen Cannes as the venue for the world debut of its new Sirena 60. Designed as an update to the popular Sirena 58 flybridge cruiser, it’s immediately clear that this new extended version features plenty more superstructure glazing for improved light and views in the saloon, but the developments go much deeper than that.

In addition to an overhaul of the interior decor to give it a younger, fresher vibe more in keeping with the revised external aesthetic, the main deck’s internal lounge gets a larger C-shaped sofa and dining table.

The new boat gets an uprated dinette and a 20% larger galley

Further forward, there’s a generous-looking twin helm by the standards of the flybridge sector, complete with a pantograph door for rapid side deck access and simpler seamanship. And the extra 2ft has also enabled a 20% larger aft galley, with extra work surface, better storage, new raised cabinets and the option of a wine cooler.

The changes continue outside. The cockpit layout uses a re-modelled forward-facing stern bench with bigger storage lockers on either side and plenty of deck space for freestanding furniture. The foredeck lounge has also been completely redesigned with a larger settee, a folding table and a ‘floating’ C-shaped backrest elevated above the seatbase.

It’s tough to see how you might use the cushions on the outside of the raised backrest but the style is certainly very cool and the sunpad ahead of that uses another convertible backrest, expanding the dining station to seat as many as ten people.

The aesthetic, inside and out, has been subtly overhauled

The flybridge changes are more subtle. The dash and pilot seats have been modernised, the wet bar worktop has been lined with Corian, and the sunpad has been treated to a convertible headrest. But given that the flybridge on the original 58 was such a strong point, that’s no problem – and the same goes for the largely unchanged lower deck.

The most popular three-cabin arrangement will continue to feature a full-beam owner’s cabin, a forward VIP and a port twin. But the twin is now easily converted into a double and there’s also room for a washer-drier beneath the staircase.

The old boat’s three-cabin layout has survived intact

As for performance, the standard fit-out will feature twin 670hp Volvo Penta D11s on ZF V-drive gearboxes for a top speed of 23.5 knots. You can also opt for 900hp D13s for speeds of around 26 knots but either way, this looks like a very worthwhile update – and if you hanker after a non-fly version then stay tuned because it seems that a Coupé variant is also on the cards.

Danish builder Rand is billing its new flagship, the Realm 45, as a boat for all seasons. Due to be launched at next year’s Boot Düsseldorf show in January, its virtually all-glass superstructure promises 360° views and complete protection from the elements.

On-deck amenities include an unusually sociable looking aft cockpit with a large aft-facing C-shaped sofa opposite another smaller forward-facing one plus a further seating/sunbathing zone in the bow.

That heavily glazed wheelhouse looks equally distinctive, especially its steeply raked flat windscreen with a pronounced kink a foot or so above the foredeck. The view from inside should be spectacular, regardless of whether you’re sitting at the helm or the large U-shaped dinette behind it. An amidships galley module separates the two.

A double sliding side-deck door to port aligns with a fold-down section of the bulwark to improve views even further and create a mini balcony. Two further sliding doors on the starboard side, one by the helm and the other by the galley, ensure easy access from both sides as well as increasing natural ventilation.

Sociable dinette seating enjoys fine views through the glazed wheelhouse

The lower deck houses a double cabin forward with an aft-facing bed on the diagonal, a head and shower compartment to starboard and two further single berths tucked under the cockpit along each side.

The standard powertrain is an all-electric one comprising two 300kW E-drive motors and a massive 440kWh battery bank, which should give a range of 35nm at 25 knots. Solar panelling on the coachroof will help top up the battery bank during the day.

A number of conventional outboard and sterndrive powertrain options are also available from Volvo Penta, Mercury and Yanmar. With the biggest twin Volvo Penta D6-440s, the top speed should be around 41 knots and the range at 25-knots around 500nm. With a pair of 600hp petrol Mercury V12 outboards, the top speed swells to around 47 knots but the range is likely to suffer accordingly.

Excluding taxes, base prices for the Realm 45 with a pair of V10 Mercury 400 outboards start at €649,900. An all-electric set-up would push that up to €999,900. The Rand Lagune 44, an open-with-hardtop model that’s based on the same hull platform, will make its debut in September at the Cannes show.

Dutch yard Van den Hoven only builds a handful of boats each year but judging from the new Van den Hoven Voyager 50, exhibited at the British Motor Yacht Show in May, there’s a good reason for that: it enables it to lavish the kind of craftsmanship and attention to detail on each boat that simply wouldn’t be possible on a production line.

The result is a beautifully built, beautifully designed boat that looks and feels like it will last a lifetime.

The big aft deck is well served by the sociable galley-up layout

Designed by Dutch naval architect René van der Velden, the Van den Hoven Voyager 50 is an elegant liveaboard coupé that’s just as happy crossing the North Sea as it is exploring the inland waterways of Europe. To that end, it features an all-aluminium semi-displacement hull with a top speed of 22 knots and relaxed cruising speeds from 5-18 knots.

Fared and painted so that it looks as smooth and curvaceous as a moulded GRP yacht but with the robustness and customisation possibilities of an all-metal construction, it’s an appealing prospect for buyers in search of something prettier and more bespoke than the usual mainstream offerings. Even the oversized stainless steel guardrails and cleats look and feel like they belong on a 30m superyacht.

The wheelhouse has double glazing and underfloor heating

A double-glazed wheelhouse all on one level with underfloor heating, bifold rear doors, electric blinds all-round and a big glass sunroof overhead ensures comfortable year-round cruising. The galley-up layout, with a domestic sized hob, oven, dishwasher and sink, makes the very most of this by ensuring that everyone feels like they’re part of the action.

The lower deck is more of a compromise. It features an attractive owner’s cabin forward and two mirror-image twins amidships but they do share the same bathroom facilities. At least it’s divided into separate shower and heads compartments – and elsewhere, the Voyager 50 is as practical as it is stylish.

You get a hydraulic bathing platform for the tender and a huge lazarette with secondary access to the brightly lit engineroom. And the twin 480hp shaftdrive engines and 2,800-litre fuel tank give a claimed range of over 1,000nm at 7 knots. The price takes a bit of swallowing but that’s hardly a surprise at this level.

Pegasus is a new electric hydrofoiling boat created by new Finnish company, FoilOne is now on show in Italy, participating in The Foiling Week, a gathering of like-minded foiling enthusiasts and foiling craft companies, which has been taking place annually since 2014.

This will be the first time many foiling enthusiasts will be able to see Pegasus in the flesh. But the concept has already impressed winning the award for Foiling Motorboat of the Year at the The International Foiling Awards earlier this year

Pegasus is certainly a cool looking foiling toy and it’s easy to see why it has turned the heads of awards judges. The designers say they turned to 1950’s era Formula 1 cars and that resemblance is hard to miss.

A wide grille-style bow and fuselage cockpit are the key F1-styling features and once it is foiling it looks for all the world like F1 throwback on stilts.

But if styling is reminiscent of a car, then the handling will put drivers more in mind of a motorbike with an in-house developed steering system designed to make driving simple for the non-boater. Put simply steering inputs run directly to the front foil, mounted in front of the driver to provide a more motorbike-like feel as opposed to the traditional real-foil steering of a rudder or engines on water craft.

When cornering the whole boat leans over, carving on its foils in much the same way as any motorbike.

The advantage of hydrofoils is that they offer much less water resistance, once a craft is going fast enough to create the required lift from the wings under water. As such higher speeds can be achieved over longer periods for reduced fuel.

The designers of Pegasus say this has enabled them to build an electrically powered boat that can go faster and further than it otherwise could.

The foiling system is modelled on foiling racing dinghies, with a sensing ‘wand’ linked to the foil flap. As the boat lifts up, the wand drops which scrubs ‘lift’ off the foil flap and vice versa.

This simple system essentially allows for a self adjusting ride height and has been used to great effect in foiling dinghies, such as the International Moth class, which have been leading the way in foiling development for 20 years.

FoilOne are not alone in heading down the hydrofoil route and the market for eclectic, foiling motor boats is in significant growth at present.

However, foiling does come at a cost, namely boats typically need to be as light as possible to enable easy, sustainable flight and thus take advantage of the drag benefits that come from being out of the water.

To ensure the minimum weight and maximum stiffness required to make foiling effective, Pegasus is built from Carbon Fibre. Which does not come cheap.

The sensing ‘wand’ is clearly visible here on the trailing edge of the front foil.

There is limited practicality here and there is no denying that Pegasus has been developed as a luxury toy, targeting the superyacht owning market. And pricing clearly reflects that.

Each boat will be hand built and is customisable, with limited build slots available. The base price is €109,900 and that’s before the 2 x 5 kWh Torqeedo electric batteries are added in, so the on-the-water cost will likely be closer to €120,000.

That is an eye-watering cost for a water toy. But it would not be the first toy to hit the market at similar cost and sell. It’s certainly very, very cool and in a money-no-object world I can’t say I wouldn’t be tempted.

Turkish builder Fabbro Yachts is hoping to make a big splash in Europe this year with its range of stylish Coupes and Cabrios. The full offering will eventually span everything from a sporty 33ft dayboat/weekender to a towering 115ft tri-deck superyacht. However, it’s the new Fabbro F60 Coupe that is leading the charge into Europe.

Packing a stylish, adventure yacht vibe, thanks to a near-plumb bow, raked forward windshield and a tall freeboard with deep chamfered bulwarks and walkaround decks, the Fabbro F60 has overtones of the Pardo Endurance 60 about it. A category A RCD rating suggests it should have the sea-keeping to back up the style.

A bright, contemporary interior adds to its chic appeal

While the cockpit appears conventional enough with its C-booth dinette and sunpad covered jet-ski garage, the foredeck lounge looks exceptional. Not only does it have a generous walkthrough dinette beneath that windshield but also an island sunpad and sofa tucked in the bow.

Depending on owner priorities, the coachroof can be configured as a simple sun lounging area with access via cockpit stairs and a portside hatch or perhaps
covered with solar panelling coupled to a battery bank for silent running of the boat’s electrical systems without a generator.

Cabins galore on the Fabbro 60

The main saloon is all lounge, save for the two-seat helm and a side-deck door tucked behind it. A dog-leg companionway leads down from here to the lower-deck galley and three ensuite guest cabins.

The owner’s cabin occupies the full beam amidships and has a forward-facing centreline double. The VIP is forward and has its aft-facing double on the diagonal, similar to some Absolute models. The twin-bed cabin sits between them to starboard and there’s a single narrow crew cabin sandwiched between the owner’s cabin and the engineroom.

The standard powertrain is a pair of 600hp Volvo Penta IPS800s delivering a top speed of around 30 knots and a fast cruise of 25 knots. However, Fabbro tells us more powerful IPS installations will be available too.

The full-beam owner’s cabin looks particularly luxurious

Prices start at €1.65 million, excluding taxes, but expect a fully specced one to weigh in at €2 million or above.

The first F60 is already under construction and is expected to launch later this year with a show debut early next year. In the meantime, Fabbro Yachts is planning to exhibit the smaller F33 and F45 models at this year’s Cannes show.

Strangely, the Marex 390 is actually a bit shorter than the Marex 375 (39ft 4in vs 39ft 6in) due to a more vertical bow with a slightly squared off forepeak, but in every other regard it’s considerably bigger. The beam has grown by 6in to 12ft 2in, the height above water level by 9in to 10ft 2in and the weight by an estimated 2-3 tonnes.

The net result is a substantially bigger boat with more interior volume, additional creature comforts and a wider choice of engine options. Outwardly, the 390 follows the familiar Marex pattern of a large open aft cockpit covered by a full-length roof extension leading to an enclosed wheelhouse but with a few notable changes.

That snub bow and vertical stem lend it a more purposeful profile, while a longer unbroken run of hull windows combined with flush fit glazing in the wheelhouse give it a sleeker, more modern appearance.

The Marex 390 on deck

As always, though, Marex has paid close attention to practicality. Two big bench lockers on the bathing platform double up as aft facing seating and storage for lines, fenders and water toys, and there’s a new transparent transom gate giving a direct view of the platform from the helm for easier stern-to berthing.

The cockpit can be opened or closed in seconds thanks to Marex’s signature sliding side curtains that pull out from the wheelhouse roof pillars and a large retracting fabric sunroof overhead. Bench seating along all four sides with a folding table to port and a walkway to starboard allows dining outside for up to eight people without compromising access to the saloon and galley.

Walkaround decks run around the outside of the cockpit all the way from the bathing platform to the foredeck, where you’ll find a sunbathing area complete with adjustable backrests and a removable floating mattress that can be used as a water toy. There’s also a fold-out anchor platform under the deck hatch for stepping off onto shore when anchoring Scandinavian-style bow-to an island.

A sliding glass door and retractable window links the cockpit and saloon to create a single entertaining space when open but also a secure and cosy retreat when closed.

There’s a second dinette inside as well as a compact galley with either a gas or induction hob, a covered sink and plenty of storage. Solar panels on the roof provide power for the fridge and lighting away from the marina, while a helm door and sunroof help with ventilation.

Lower deck accommodation consists of two double cabins with more floor space, bigger windows and larger beds than the 375. The forward one has a conventional
aft-facing bed and generous headroom while the midships one has a transverse bed to starboard and a sofa to port that doubles as a child’s bed. Both cabins share a single heads, albeit a generously sized one with a separate shower cubicle.

The 390 sits on a variable-vee hull and has a Cat B RCD rating. Power choices range from a single 480hp Volvo Penta D6 on a V-drive gearbox and shaft to twin 320hp D4s or 380hp D6s on sterndrives. No performance claims have yet been published but we’d expect a top speed of around 34-35 knots with the biggest sterndrives and a range of around 250nm at 25 knots from its 870-litre fuel tank.

Like the rest of the Marex portfolio, the 390 will be built in Lithuania and is expected to make its first show debut at this September’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

British boat builder Spirit Yachts has unveiled a new range of elegant 50ft motoryachts. Called the P50 and handcrafted from wood at the yard’s facilities in Ipswich, Suffolk, they will be available in two different versions.

The ‘Sport’ model is an open-backed hard top design for warmer climes, while the ‘Coupe’ has an enclosed wheelhouse making it more suitable for Northern European cruising. Both share the same deep-vee hull with a near-plumb bow, hard chines and tumblehome stern.

Above the gunwale, they look quite different but share the same attractive retro-modern styling that helped establish the yard’s reputation for building some of the world’s prettiest boats since it first launched 32 years ago.

The Spirit P50 Sport

The P50 Sport features an open cockpit design beneath a buttressed hardtop. It has walkaround decks protected by deep bulwarks, an extra-large platform capable of carrying a small tender, and a U-shaped dinette aft for alfresco eating. Amidships there’s a wet bar with the option of three matching bar stools. Further forward, four sporty pilot seats are tucked behind a wraparound windshield with the helm on the centreline. Plus there’s a sun-pad on the bow.

The P50 Coupe has a shorter bathing platform with the same u-shaped dinette pushed further back towards the transom to create enough room in the aft cockpit for two aft-facing corner seats either side of the sliding glass doors into the saloon. The saloon can be configured in various different ways to suit the owner’s preference for seating and dining options. The helm features less sporty bench seating for four.

The Spirit P50 Coupe

Down below both variants have small galleys amidships to port. The Sport has an adjacent L-shaped sofa and either just the one double cabin in the bow with a large ensuite shower compartment or an optional second twin-bed cabin aft of the portside companionway stairs.

The standard P50 Coupe layout includes two double cabins, the owner’s forward and a transverse double aft, as well as two bathrooms, an ensuite shower-room for the owners and a head-shower compartment for the guests and that doubles as the day-head.

Both P50s share the same powertrain – twin 440hp Volvo Penta IPS600s fed by a 2,000-litre fuel tank. For the P50 Coupe, this is expected to provide a top speed of around 30 knots and a fast cruise of 22 knots with a cruising range of around 300nm. The P50 Sport is lighter, so a little quicker. It should have a top speed of around 32 knots and a fast cruise of 24 knots with a corresponding range of 320nm.

One of each model is already in build at the yard. As with all Spirit Yachts, they are built by hand using sustainably sourced timber sheathed in epoxy to create a rigid but surprisingly light and easy to maintain hull.

The P50 Sport will be first to launch next spring for a Californian owner. The Coupe version, which is currently at the planking stage, is being built for a UK owner who also has a Spirit sailing yacht in build. It will be delivered later next year.

Although ostensibly a sailing yacht specialist, Spirit has been developing its power credentials slowly but surely over the past 15 years. The P50 slots between the P40, of which two have been built to date, and the P70, the first and only one of which was delivered in 2020. It also helped design and build a one-off 35ft electric foiling boat that set a new record for circumnavigating the Isle of Wight in an electric craft.

Introduced as a concept in the summer of 2024 and now revealed for the first time in full, this new flagship of the Pardo Yachts Endurance line is designed to be a proper cruising machine. But if the sheltered internal saloon appears to encompass a slightly greater proportion of the main deck length than the GT75 we tested last year, you wouldn’t know it from the flexibility at the bow and stern.

At the back end, you can tweak the layout with a ‘suspended’ sunbed or an open-air cockpit dining area. Either way, a pair of large fold-down bulwarks expands the usable party space to around 430sqft and you also get a stern garage big enough for a 4m tender.

There’s 300sqft of day space up top

Up at the bow, seating built into the forepeak and into the front end of the superstructure are split by a central sunbed with configurable backrests, bringing all kinds of options in the way the space can be arranged.

And a full-size flybridge delivers another 300sqft of outdoor space. That’s organised around a starboard twin helm, a dining area for eight and an optional kitchen and bar, all beneath the shelter of an optional louvred T-top with electrically retractable biminis.

The main deck saloon works pretty hard too. You would expect expansive windows on a boat like this but what is particularly welcome are the sliding doors – particularly on the starboard side, where they enable the internal dining area to open out onto the terrace. There’s also a galley at the port side, plus a spacious lounge further forward, with a chaise longue and a cosy sofa.

Down below, it’s clear that the dynamic is geared more keenly toward cruising cabins than that of the GT75. For a start, rather than revolving around a single staircase, a central set of steps leads down to the full-beam owner’s cabin, the port VIP and an independent, standalone day heads.

Another staircase to port of the redesigned helm then takes you down to a pair of ensuite twin cabins at the bow. And ahead of that, accessed by means of a private hatch on the foredeck, is another set of steps, this time to access a very handy crew cabin with a bunk and ensuite bathroom.

As regards performance, the new 72’s ‘warped hull’ design has been engineered specifically for IPS drives. It comes with a pair of D13 IPS-1050s as standard but most people will choose to upgrade to IPS-1350s for speeds around 35 knots. As a boat designed for comfy long-distance cruising, the range also looks strong.

With 6,000 litres of fuel and 1,200 litres of water as standard, a gentle 12-knot cruise will apparently return a fuel flow of 80 litres per hour for a very generous range of around 900 miles.

American brand Outer Reef is developing a new entry model for its Adventure range of modern trawler yachts. The 540 Adventure is a modern semi-displacement flybridge craft measuring 56ft 5in (17.2m) overall and was designed in Holland by Studio Delta.

Despite being an all-composite build, it has the kind of clean lines and sturdy profile more normally associated with a Dutch steel or aluminium vessel. That’s because its big sister, the 780 Adventure, is in fact built from steel at Outer Reef’s recently acquired yard in Holland. The decision on where the 540 Adventure will be built is still pending, but contract builders in North-Eastern Europe or Taiwan are the current front-runners.

Tall bulwarks provide good protection to the side decks and foredeck lounge

The 540 Adventure’s contemporary interior scheme comes from UK-based Julian Moore. The split-level main saloon features an aft lounge at deck level with a raised amidships galley and an internal staircase to a hard top-protected flybridge above.

With commanding views through those trawler-style windscreens, the pilothouse has its single-seat helm on the centreline and more lounge seating to starboard, while to port there are stairs to the lower deck, a side-deck door and a pair of aft-facing bar stools that address the galley counter.

Contemporary interior decor matches the fresh exterior styling

There are settees and tables in both the cockpit and the foredeck lounge. The upper helm position seats two and is offset to starboard, which provides room to port for another large double-table dining area.

The aft end of the flybridge is intended for a 450kg-capacity crane and a tender.

Accommodation consists of three cabins and two shower rooms. There’s a VIP double forward, with its bed set diagonally. It shares its starboard-side ensuite with a twin-bed cabin across the lower lobby to port. The full-beam owner’s cabin is amidships aft and has a queen-size double that’s slightly offset to port to balance floor space between a relatively shallow cupboard storage unit to port and a deeper-set sofa to starboard.

A large lazarette can be configured as a crew cabin if required. Propelled by twin 600hp Volvo Penta D8 diesels on v-drive shafts, it has a claimed range of 2,000nm at around nine knots thanks to a 4,700-litre fuel tank. The top speed should be in the low 20s with a fast cruise of around 18 knots.

Expect a typical driveaway specification to weigh in at around £2.3 million including VAT. Hull no 1 is due to splash next summer.

French catamaran specialist Fountaine Pajot and luxury motoryacht builder Couach are joining forces to launch a new range of premium powercats. Called Veya, they will combine the powercat design and engineering expertise of Fountaine Pajot with the high end fit and finish of Couach.

The first model in the new range, due to launch this summer, will be the Veya 53. Designed by revered French cat-specialist Berret-Racoupeau, the new model strikes a nice balance between style and volume thanks to a generous beam of 26ft 3in combined with a relatively sleek superstructure featuring explorer-style forward-raked windows and a hull-coloured flybridge hard top.

Near vertical bows and elongated hull windows that follow the subtle flare in the topside moulding adds an air of sophistication to the design.

The emphasis on style is matched by an equally strong focus on user-friendly entertaining spaces. The expansive aft cockpit has seating along both sides in addition to the usual transom dinette and a lovely little bar area facing into the saloon. There is also a large shallow locker beneath the cockpit sole for inflatable SUPs and a hydraulic stern platform rated up to 600kg for carrying a tender.

Moving forward from here, wide side decks lead up to an equally generous sunken foredeck lounge, featuring a secure forward facing settee and two aft facing corner chaise longues.

Skylight over the helm helps brighten up the saloon

The flybridge avoids the common powercat mistake of feeling too big and spartan by restricting it to more manageable proportions and fitting it with a convivial array of corner seating options around the central helm position, a single large dinette to starboard and a wet bar to port. This leaves space in front of the windscreen for a big glass skylight letting light into the saloon below.

This has a large lounging/dining area to port and galley and sofa to starboard, as well as a drop-down TV. The indoor helm benefits from an opening hatch in the skylight above it and a small drinks fridge by the skipper’s feet.

Accommodation includes three or four cabins accessed from stairs on either side of the main saloon. The three-cabin layout has an owner’s suite that occupies the entire port hull and includes a sleeping area forward, an amidships lounge/study area and a bathroom aft.

The starboard hull houses the other two cabins, a VIP forward and regular double aft. All three cabins have their beds facing outboard to make the most of the views through the hull windows. Plus there’s room for up to two crew in the bows.

Propulsion comes from Yanmar. The standard engines are twin 440hp 6LYs on V-drive shafts but these can be upgraded to a pair of 550hp 6LFs. The top speed for these should be over 20 knots while the range at eight knots is expected to be 550-600nm with the twin standard 1,000-litre tanks or closer to 800nm with the extra 800-litre long-range tank option.

There’s also a 2.5kW solar-panelling option for the hard top instead of a sunroof and space for 40kWh of lithium batteries, enough for silent overnighting with the AC set to ‘eco mode’.

Prices start at €1.8 million, but typical deliveries are likely to be €2.1-2.4m. Although the Veya project is a new joint venture, the two companies already have a close working relationship after Fountaine Pajot moved production of its existing powercat range to Couach’s Arcachon Bay facility a couple of years ago.

To mark the 85th anniversary of the Dunkirk Little Ships toiling over nine days to evacuate Allied soldiers in 1940 during World War Two, a fleet of over 70 Little Ships used in the operation will sail from Ramsgate to Dunkirk. The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS) is organising the event, which will run from the 17th to the 26th of May and feature commemorative occasions open to the public in Ramsgate and Dunkirk.

ADLS defines a Little Ship as ‘all craft that were originally privately owned and includes commercial vessels such as barges, British, French, Belgian and Dutch fishing vessels and pleasure steamers’ used in the mission. The Association also includes some ex-service vessels, which are now privately owned, and ex-lifeboats. The organisation comprises current Little Ships owners, who gather every five years to retrace the route many vessels took in 1940’s Dunkirk evacuation.

Commodore of The ADLS Kevin Finn said, ‘Ramsgate is my hometown; it will be great to have a fleet of the Little Ships here again for our five-yearly crossing to Dunkirk. Ramsgate and Dunkirk are pulling out all the stops to commemorate, celebrate and educate throughout our stay in the very centre of these two excellent ports’.

The History of the Dunkirk Little Ships

On 14 May 1940, the BBC announced the following over radio: “The Admiralty have made an Order requesting all owners of self-propelled pleasure craft between 30′ and 100′ in length to send all particulars to the Admiralty within 14 days from today if they have not already been offered or requisitioned.”

Following this national call, large numbers of those with privately owned boats in the UK travelled across the channel and rescued stranded allied troops from France’s Dunkirk beaches between 26 May and 4 June 1940.

The Little Ships participated in Operation Dynamo, Cycle, and Aerial, which involved Ramsgate as a major departure point. According to ADLS, ‘approximately 850 private boats sailed from Ramsgate,’ and over 250 were lost during the Dunkirk evacuation.

Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Admiral Ramsey hoped that the operations would rescue between 30,000 and 40,000 troops. Thanks to the combined effort of the Dunkirk Little Ships, Navy, and RAF, around 338,000 were rescued, including French soldiers. Therefore, the response from the Little Ships’ crews and owners was hugely important for saving Allied lives and keeping British forces strong enough to continue fighting the war.

The mission’s outcome turned a military disaster into a symbol of courage in adversity. The term ‘Dunkirk Spirit’ is still used to describe bravery and solidarity in very difficult situations.

The Dunkirk Little Ships Anniversary Event

Named the Dunkirk 85, the anniversary voyage is long-awaited for those in the Association. The last passage was in 2015 because the coronavirus pandemic prevented a 2020 event.

Between 17th and 19th May, Little Ships will arrive alone and in small groups at Ramsgate, mooring in the Inner Harbour. Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning 2016 film, ‘Dunkirk’, used twelve of these vessels. The public is welcome to view the Little Ships from the harbour or pontoon to get a sense of life during the historical evacuation.

Honorary Vice Admiral of The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships, Ian Gilbert, commented, “The fleet will soon gather in Ramsgate for this return to Dunkirk, which is made all the more special by the number of Little Ships involved, more than has been seen previously. A vast amount of work is going on at present to make sure the Little Ships look their very best and are fully prepared for the channel crossing”.

On 20 May, the Association plans a full day of commemoration, including a parade through the town and on the harbour front. This event will involve unveiling the refurbished Ramsgate Operation Dynamo memorial and dedicating the bell from the large paddle steamer Crested Eagle, which was sunk off of Bray Dunes beach east of Dunkirk on 29 May 1940.

A service will follow in the Sailor’s Church. In the evening, the ADLS will hold a briefing for skippers making the crossing, giving final details and deciding whether it’s safe to proceed.

On 21 May, between 0530 and 0730, escorted by the Royal Navy, the RNLI, and Nelson safety vessels, the Little Ships will leave Ramsgate to arrive in Dunkirk by 1600 local time. From the 21st to the 26th, the ADLS will host further commemorative events in Dunkirk.

For David Attenborough film fans, there’s a new feature film supported by Arksen and 10% For The Ocean with an optimistic tone showing how seas can recover from destruction. The documentary Ocean with David Attenborough is set to premiere at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, London, on Tuesday, May 6th. Later in the year, the film will be available globally on National Geographic, Hulu, and Disney+.

Sir David Attenborough commented on the project, “My lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery. Over the last hundred years, scientists and explorers have revealed remarkable new species, epic migrations, and dazzling, complex ecosystems beyond anything I could have imagined as a young man.

“In this film, we share some of those wonderful discoveries, uncover why our ocean is in such poor health and, perhaps most importantly, show how it can be restored to health. This could be the moment of change. Nearly every country on Earth has just agreed, on paper, to achieve this bare minimum and protect a third of the ocean. Together, we now face the challenge of making it happen.”

According to motorboat brand Arksen, a motivation for creating this documentary was that of the $811 billion donated worldwide, 0.3% of all philanthropic giving goes to supporting the ocean. Meanwhile, 90% of fish stocks are overfished or exploited, and sea-bed trawling destroys vital ecosystems. The film shares these challenges facing the ocean while showing how recovery is possible.

A new holding company has been registered at Companies House called Fairline Holdco Limited, although we understand that going foward the business itself will just be known as Fairline.

Crucially, the deal secures Fairline’s status as a British based boat manufacturer and should mean the remaining 240 employees will continue to build and develop new boats in Oundle for the foreseeable future.

New owner, Bronzewood Capital, specialises in distressed businesses with turnovers in the £5m to £50m range. It is headed by David Buchler, a founding partner of Buchler Phillips. Buchler, himself, is a serial boat owner as well as an experienced marine industry executive, having been a long-term director-investor in Ventura Yachts, the distributor for Ferretti Group brands in the UK and Spain. Buchler has also had spells as the vice-chairman of Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur and English National Opera. He is supported in Bronzewood by Robin Southwell, a former CEO of Airbus UK.

Speaking exclusively to Motor Boat & Yachting, Buchler said, “Fairline is one of the great brands. Customers can have confidence the business is properly funded and we’re now moving forward positively into the future”.

He also confirmed that the full range of Fairline boats would continue to be built at Oundle by the current workforce, while Bronzewood carried out a six month deep dive into the business to assess “what works and what doesn’t, so we can make sure the business expands in a style that won’t lose money.”

Why Fairline Yachts was sold

Despite being placed in administration in January, Fairline Yachts has been kept running on reduced staffing levels. The administrators were called in by DF Capital, a bank that had been supplying cashflow finance to the company, shortly after its previous owners, Hanover Investments, handed over control of Fairline Yachts to newly formed company Arrowbolt Propulsion Systems.

The Fairline Targa 40 is one of the yard’s most recent boats.

Fearful that the new owners didn’t have the funding to keep the business running, DF Capital called in the administrators with the backing of Fairline’s main dealers, who were keen to ensure that any work-in-progress boats were completed.

Day-to-day management of the company since December has been the responsibility of Peter Hamlyn, a former COO of Oyster Yachts. He was called in to manage the day to day running of the business until new investors could be found.

One of the first actions of the new owners has been to raise prices by 6% after the usual January price rise was postponed due to the administration process. Fairline’s dealers have also been asked to accept a reduced margin as part of a drive to restore the business to profitability after years of losses.

The original Fairline Boats traded from 1963 through until 2015, when it finally succumbed following turbulent years post the global financial crisis of 2008. Russian investors then picked up the assets and restarted as Fairline Yachts, the entity that was acquired by Hanover Investors in 2022 until the back end of last year.

Sunseeker is moving back into the big league with the formation of a new Superyacht Division and three stunning new models over 100ft.

The first to arrive will be the Sunseeker 120 Yacht. An evolution of the successful Sunseeker 116 Yacht, rather than an all-new boat, it has been substantially updated with new deck and superstructure mouldings as well as a fresh interior.

As with the latest Sunseeker Manhattan 68, the 116’s distinctive shark-fin hardtop supports have been replaced by slimmer, more modern looking forward raked ones. However, it’s the new design of the foredeck lounge that is likely to hold the biggest appeal.

Sunseeker 120 Yacht: latest updates on groundbreaking superyacht

Not only does this feature a larger, more sociable hexagonal outdoor seating area with twin tables and matching hot tub and sunloungers but crucially it also has direct access from the flybridge via a raised starboard side-deck. Accommodation for up to 10 guests will include a full-beam main-deck owner’s cabin underneath that lounge.

Certified by RINA, and capable of being MCA and Tier III compliant, the new 120 Yacht will be powered by twin MTU 12V or 16V 2000 Series diesels for a top speed of around 24 knots. There will also be a tender garage big enough for a 21ft (6.5m) RIB, as well as a pair of big three-seat PWCs. The first 120 is due to start lamination later this year and launch in late 2026/early 2027.

The Sunseeker 135 Yacht

Next up should be the Sunseeker 135 Yacht, a full trideck model based on broadly the same technical platform as the former 131/40M Yacht models. However, instead of the big 4000 Series MTUs used in the older craft, the 135 will use the smaller and less thirsty 2000 Series.

Expect to see the first of those splash some time later in 2027. Less is known about the details of this but early renderings show a completely new beach club stern with folding platforms either side of a glass walled hot tub and tiered steps leading down to a sunbed just above water level.

The Sunseeker Ocean 460

The most exciting new model but also furthest from production is the all-new Sunseeker Ocean 460, currently scheduled to launch in 2028. With an LOA of around 150ft and a volume of just under 500GT, it will push the limits of composite motor yacht construction and almost certainly require a new facility being built at its Osprey Quay site in Portland.

Notable for its vertical bow – a first for Sunseeker – and a huge asymmetric beach club featuring a large folding terrace to port and a side-mounted tender garage to starboard, it will introduce a striking new aesthetic for the brand.

Although Sunseeker is no stranger to this market segment, having delivered 149 yachts over 100ft since it first breached the threshold in 2000, it has shied away from announcing new models in recent years. Now thanks to renewed confidence in the market and fresh funding from its Italian and American investors, it is once again venturing back above the 100ft mark.

Prestige is launching a third member of its M-series powercat family. The new M7 will sit between the current Prestige M48 and Prestige M8 models with its first public showing expected at the Cannes Yachting Festival later this year.

With an LOA of 58ft 6in and a beam of 24ft 10in, its total living space of 2,150 sq ft is akin to that of a 70ft monohull but thanks to the efficiency of its multihull design, Prestige claims it will burn around 40% less fuel at 21 knots and 25% less at 17 knots.

It’s not just the cruising efficiency that will appeal; a striking new beach club stern, four spacious guest cabins, including a stunning full beam owner’s suite, and a wealth of different layout options should prove equally enticing.

Prestige describes this new cockpit treatment as a ‘Pool Terrace’ due to the way it cascades down towards the sea in three distinct steps, separated only by slim guardrails to enhance safety without compromising views out.

The top step is a relatively short aft deck at the same level as the saloon and side decks to provide easy circulation around the yacht; the middle one is lower and much larger with a choice of either two moulded-in corner units or a central U-shaped sofa – both face out to sea and can be fitted with optional dining tables; the bottom step is just above sea level and comprises a central hydraulic section that slides into the water and two fixed side platforms.

There’s another outdoor lounging area on the foredeck too, with a sunken footwell for the two forward-facing curved benches and a pair of vast sunpads further back. Plus, of course, an enormous 377 sq ft flybridge with a second outside dining area, bar, sunloungers and a central helm station under an optional hardtop. Access to this upper deck is via a staircase recessed into the superstructure on the port side deck.

The interior spaces are just as lavish with a large saloon offering either seating or dining options aft and a galley forward plus an optional inside helm station opposite. But it’s the cabins that are likely to wow potential buyers.

Like Bluegame’s BGM75, the bridge deck linking the two hulls is so deep that the accommodation extends across the full width of both hulls, including the tunnel in between. This makes for an enormous full beam owner’s cabin forward, two very generous double ensuites further aft, a good-sized twin with an optional fourth bathroom, a double bunk crew cabin as standard and the option of a third single crew cabin behind the port hull’s engine bay.

The only engine choice is a pair of 550hp Volvo Penta D8s hooked up to V-drives giving a top speed in the low 20s. However, the standard 2,900-litre fuel tank can be extended to 3,400-litre if longer range is required.

There is also an option for a Silent Mode comprising a lithium-ion battery pack, solar panelling on the hardtop and an inverter, which will allow overnighting without running the generator for up to 10 hours or perhaps two hours during the day.

Prices start at €3.8 million.

Sirena Marine is updating its popular Sirena 58 flybridge cruiser with a new 60 model, the Sirena 60. This extended version will outwardly be similar to its predecessor but with even more superstructure glazing. The design credits are all in-house, save for the naval architecture, which comes from naval architect German Frers.

However, the Sirena 60 is not merely an aesthetic upgrade; it has elevated functionality as well. More glass in the main saloon should translate to more light and better views. The interior vibe is also promised to be younger and fresher.

Then there’s a reworked bow lounge featuring a larger C-shaped sofa and dining table as well as a forward sunpad, a different cockpit layout, and an upgraded bathing platform and flybridge.

Inside, the extra two feet and reworked layout create more usable space. There’s a 20% larger galley right next to the cockpit doors, an amidships lounge and two-seat helm position.

Lower-deck accommodation options are much the same as the 58’s. The most popular will have three cabins – a full-beam amidships owner’s suite with forward-facing centreline double, a VIP in the bow with an aft-facing centreline double, and in between a portside twin bed cabin that will easily convert to another double when required.

There’s also now room for a washer-drier beneath the lower deck staircase.

The standard engines are twin 670hp Volvo Penta D11s on ZF V-drive gearboxes giving a quoted top speed of 23.5 knots. Optional 900hp D13s will push this up to nearer 26 knots. The quoted range is 850nm at a more relaxed 10 knots with 10% fuel in reserve.

The first Sirena 60 is already undergoing sea trials and its public showing is likely to be at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. A Coupé version may follow at some point.

Riva launched its new Riva Iseo Super at the Boot Düsseldorf show in late January. This ultra-cool 27ft dayboat is a more affordable combustion engined version of the all-electric Riva El-Iseo launched last year. Both are evolutions of the original Iseo launched in 2011, 80 of which have been built to date.

Outwardly the Iseo Super is just as sweet as you would expect, with a flared bow, a sweeping shear and a beautifully moulded tumblehome stern – all packaged with the usual deep-gloss varnished mahogany detailing.

As for the cockpit layout, what you see is what you get. Beneath that low wraparound windshield, which now features a raised lip at the leading edge in common with all Riva’s latest generation boats, there’s a new Böning digital dashboard and two bolstered benches either side of a central walkway.

Behind them is a new U-shaped seating area and a small square pedestal table that will go up and down at the flick of a switch. A hand-operated bimini top stows neatly away beneath the rear bench.

Whereas the El-Iseo’s engine bay had a Parker electric motor, the Iseo Super’s is much more familiar. As standard it comes with a 300hp Volvo Penta D4 diesel linked to a DP-I sterndrive, which promises a top speed of around 38 knots. There are also two petrol V8 options with either 305hp or 355hp – the latter pushes the top speed up to 41 knots.

Riva doesn’t publish pricing of its boats but we understand the new Iseo Super is well under half the price of the notoriously expensive electric El-Iseo, which is said to cost around €1million.

Mixing a world-class record-breaking offshore builder like Scorpion RIBs with a style-savvy performance brand like Twisted Marine was always likely to result in good things and this Twisted Scorpion 36GT proves it.

You can spec the wet bar with a fridge and ice maker

Based on the Silurian, there’s certainly a nod to commercial toughness in features like the drum winch for the anchor and the samson post at the bow. But it also uses a tapered carbon-effect Hypalon collar and black anodised rails for an extra dose of style, as well as thicker, more indulgent upholstery and a boarding step that drips with custom loveliness.

However, this is not a boat that strives to fill every inch of deck with furniture. On the contrary, all you get aside from a compact loo inside the console and a wet bar behind the helm seats is a large aft dining station and some convertible seats in the bow.

That’s because performance remains the priority. You can expect 55 knots with twin 400hp outboards but it’s also available with diesel inboards for use as a chase boat or in areas where petrol is scarce.

At the 2025 British Motor Yacht Show (BMYS), there will be the most Sanlorenzo yachts ever at a UK boat show. Throughout the four-day show, 15-18 May at Swanwick Marina, Sanlorenzo UK’s stand will highlight the Italian shipyard’s innovative design, craftsmanship, and capacity for customisation.

The Sanlorenzo SX76 and Sanlorenzo SL96A will be on the water alongside the Bluegame BG54, a Sanlorenzo brand.

The Managing Director of Sanlorenzo Yachts UK, Nick Hatfield, said, ‘Having made our debut at the event last year with an SL90A, we are delighted to return with our largest-ever UK showcase.’

Sanlorenzo bills this new SX76 as a ‘synthesis between the classic motor yacht with a flying bridge and recent and growing Explorer model.’ At 23.75 metres, the SX76 has expansive decks and a semi-enclosed flybridge that can accommodate up to 8 guests.

On the main deck, there’s a salon and dining area, which are finished with light oak and American walnut flooring. Furniture includes a Poltrona Frau Fiorile coffee table and the iconic Cassina Utrecht armchair.

In addition, there’s a full-beam owner’s cabin, a VIP guest suite, and two twin guest cabins, each with en-suite bathrooms finished with Emperador marble and Fantini Rubinetti accessories.

The SX76 has a cockpit for outdoor entertaining, with a Talenti sofa, chairs, and a coffee table. As part of an alfresco feel, the flybridge has an electric up/down folding top table and a fully equipped wet bar with a fridge, ice maker, and grill.

Design-wise, the SX76 has a muted colour palette with natural tones complemented by minimalist lines.

At the show, the customised Sanlorenzo SL96A is available for exclusive viewing. The 29.06-metre yacht focuses on connecting to the outside while lounging, with huge foredeck sun pads and a dining table. As part of the asymmetric design scheme with an elevated port-side deck, inside, there’s a luxurious two-sofa right angle set up with a huge dining table on the other side.

Design details include a slatted motif, which runs as airy panelling throughout the SL96A. This design choice is mainly featured in a curved staircase, as a slatted headboard, and clever room dividers in the saloon. The vast layout offers multiple spaces for retiring or socialising inside and outside.

Maximising space is the name of the game here, particularly with the stern area, which has a bathing platform and sun pads facing aft. The bulwarks on either side of the sun pads offer a valuable windbreak ideal for sheltering while catching rays.
