The Cannes Yachting Festival always serves as the global barometer for the boating industry, and this year’s crop of debuts confirmed that the focus is firmly fixed on smart design, efficiency, and innovation. We spent several days on the French Riviera to bring you a comprehensive look at the new models that truly stood out, revealing the yachts that are setting the course for the year ahead.

What impressed most this year was the sheer variety and quality on display. We saw manufacturers pushing the boundaries in every segment: from Beneteau’s compelling move to make practical flybridge cruising more accessible, to Galeon’s radical, workboat-inspired explorer yacht, and Princess’s stunning reimagining of the high-speed open sportscruiser.

Whether you want family volume, carbon performance, or world-girdling capability, these are the best new boats that made the biggest splash at Cannes this year.

Best boats at Cannes Yachting Festival 2025

Beneteau Swift Trawler 37

Arguably the most exciting thing about the all-new Swift Trawler 37 is the fact that it’s not just bigger and better than the ST35 it replaces, it’s also cheaper. The entry-level Sedan version starts at just €299,000 ex tax and even the flybridge only adds another £16,000 to that. It’s all part of Beneteau’s drive to make boating more accessible after years of above-inflation price rises across the industry.

We’ve no idea how they’ve managed to do it, though, because the ST37 actually looks and feels smarter than its predecessor, in both senses of the word. Clever touches like a transom bench which pushes out over the swim platform to free up more space in the cockpit, a folding radar arch for sneaking under bridges and a paddle board rack and manual crane at the aft end of the flybridge make a big difference to life on board while costing very little. But the detailing feels more expensive too. The cleats are all stainless steel rather than aluminium, the wood veneer is thicker and the fabrics are plusher.

The extra couple of feet have also been used to good effect. The galley is significantly bigger with valuable extra storage, refrigeration and worktop space as well as a television hidden in one of the eye-level lockers. But the biggest win is a much better bathroom with a separate shower compartment so you don’t get wet feet when popping to the loo or brushing your teeth.

The owner’s cabin also feels significantly bigger and brighter, thanks to the beam being carried further forward and larger hull windows. As for the second cabin, that still has bunk beds rather than twins but perhaps that’s inevitable on this size of boat.

Back outside, a bigger flybridge with a reversible backrest on the forward end of the dinette means a couple of extra people can sit facing forward alongside the skipper, while pop-up backrests on the long foredeck sunpads create another cosy bench here.

Exceptional quantities of storage, including a big cockpit lazarette and excellent access to the single Yanmar shaftdrive engine, ensure it should be as easy to maintain as it is comfortable to cruise on. Hats off to Beneteau then for realising what owners really value and giving it to them at a sensible price.

Marex 390

Those of us who enjoyed the award-winning Marex 440 last year got a major treat in Cannes, with the world debut of the new 390. While both the aesthetic and the main deck layout are similar to that of the larger boat, the smaller boat’s aft platform features a set of integrated teak boxes and a removable table so, in addition to excellent storage for your lines and fenders, you also get a charming aft-facing station for your morning coffee. We enjoyed exactly that with company boss, Espen Aalrud, before moving forward to a cockpit that feels very much the equal of the 440.

It’s large, deep and safe with wraparound seating on all sides and a neat transom gate that generates a fifth corner seat in what is ostensibly a square deck. The big table and even bigger sunroof make the most of that seating and, as you would expect, you can also open up the aft doors, swing the integrated canvases around the cockpit and generate an uninterrupted run of sheltered accommodation all the way from the transom to the helm station.

When you head into the saloon, you get a port dinette and a starboard galley, plus a co-pilot position with a fold-up desk, which is much improved on the mechanism we saw on the 440. Happily though, the helm revoices that of the larger boat with outstanding ergonomics and some beautiful features.

The seat uses a push-button manual adjustment system so you don’t have to root around for a catch beneath the seat base. The sunroof is manual too, and while there’s not quite the space on this model for a port door, the skipper’s door and adjustable wheel are both present and correct. And so is the barrel at the wheel base, which shifts fore and aft at the push of a button, enabling you to enjoy the seat’s excellent lumbar support without having to reach for the wheel.

The volume down below is also extraordinary. It’s used for a large bow cabin, a starboard bathroom and a transverse midships double with a settee, a huge cabinet and a changing zone beneath the bright dashtop skylight. The 390 is by no means a showy boat but if you’re okay with that, this is about as lovely as a four-berth 40-footer gets.

Princess V65

While the big news on the Princess stand was the launch of the all-new C48 next year, this year’s excitement was the global premier of the V65. It may share a lot in common with the S65, including the hull, engines and lower deck accommodation, but we were pleasantly surprised by just how different it looks and feels in the flesh.

That largely comes down to one thing – the sunroof. It is colossal, far bigger than anything else we have seen on a 65-footer, and stretches all the way from the top of the windscreen to the aft end of the saloon.

The effect is genuinely transformative. When closed it feels much like the S65, albeit with a load more natural light due to the extra glazing in the sunroof, but when open it’s a different beast altogether. With nothing but blue sky overhead and a refreshing sea breeze wafting through the saloon, it feels for all the world like an old school open sportscruiser with a little extra luxury and plushness.

The other changes are relatively minor but no less welcome. There’s a large L-shaped wet bar in the port corner of the cockpit where the steps up to the S65’s sportsbridge would normally be. This backs onto the galley so that when the window between them is opened, it becomes a natural extension to the worksurface and the ideal place for passing food through to guests. The corner seat on the starboard side of the S65’s cockpit has also been removed, presumably to free up a bit of space.

The rest of the layout is largely unchanged but given how well it works on the S65, that’s no bad thing. With four cabins and three bathrooms, including a lavish full beam owner’s suite with a long bathroom behind it, it’s very spacious for something as sleek as this.

And that, of course, is the other reason for choosing a V65 over an S65. As cleverly disguised as the S65’s sportsbridge is, the V65’s lower profile and purer two-deck sportscruiser lines look ever prettier. The weight of that vast sunroof means it’s unlikely to be much quicker but that’s not really an issue given the S65’s impressive pace. And thanks to that versatile foredeck lounge with sunbeds that convert into face-to-face seating with a chilled locker between them, it still has plenty of outdoor entertaining space.

Galeon 430 EXP

You’ve got to hand it to Galeon. It is, by a country mile, the bravest and most innovative of all the mainstream European boat builders, so it’s no surprise to learn that its first explorer-style yacht is far from conventional.

With its blunt tugboat-style bow, chunky rubber fendering, asymmetric side decks and towering reverse angled windscreen, it is not a natural beauty but there is something rather charming about its refusal to follow the herd. And the fact that it pairs this distinctly workboat aesthetic with an astonishing array of luxury features makes it all the more appealing.

The size of its folding platforms has to be seen to be believed. Stretching from the bathing platform all the way to the front of the saloon, they must be well over 20ft long. Both of these link up with opening windows in the saloon to create a four-seater bar to starboard and an outward-facing settee to port. There’s also a large ‘carousel’ dinette in the cockpit that rotates manually to face inboard on passage and outboard at anchor, plus a hydraulic bathing platform and a tender garage.

The asymmetric layout means there’s no side deck to port but that creates enough room in the wheelhouse for a generous dinette opposite the galley; and skipper’s doors on both sides of the raised pilothouse still ensure easy access to that astonishingly blunt but beamy bow lounge. Steps up from the cockpit reveal an equally spacious flybridge with a U-shaped dinette and wet bar, plus sunpads forward and a single helm seat to port.

The inside helm has a more generous 3-person bench and imperious views forward with a second small dinette alongside it. Steps lead down from here to a very stylish forward owner’s cabin, a shared bathroom with a proper shower compartment and a pretty decent guest double. There is only access along one side of the guests’ bed but headroom is better than expected and we love the secret door leading to a surprisingly big utility room.

It will be fascinating to see how the blunt bow copes in a swell but with single or twin diesels on shafts, the focus seems to be on safe and steady progress rather than high speed cruising. There’s even a folding mast for inland waterway passages. If you can get your head round the styling and the cost of all the extras, it’s a remarkably complete offering.

Bluegame BGF45

Sanlorenzo’s Bluegame division spent millions developing a hydrogen-fuelled foiling powercat as a chase boat for the America’s Cup so it’s hoping to recoup some of that investment with this new BGF45.

Like the chase boat, it’s a foil-assisted multi-hull, but whereas the carbon fibre original flew a metre above the water on computer-controlled active foils, this one uses a much simpler fixed foil to lift it a mere 30cm and reduce the hulls’ drag through the water. We’ll find out how well it works in a future sea trial but in the meantime, there’s plenty to admire about the design of this futuristic sportscruiser.

For starters, it doesn’t really look or feel like a conventional powercat. Its beam of 16ft 10in is significantly wider than most 45ft monohulls but not so wide that it feels like you’re piloting a tennis court. The layout reflects that with relatively modest side decks, a big but not excessive cockpit and a full-beam bathing platform that disguises the gap between the hulls.

The result is a sociable and unusually generous outdoor entertaining space that feels more like a beamy monohull than a powercat; the aft sunpad, dinette and wet bar look like they belong to a 60ft monohull sportcruiser for instance. It’s so convincing that when you wander up to the foredeck, you half expect to see an extra 15ft of bow stretching out in front of you rather than two much shorter vertical stems inches from your feet.

The illusion falls apart a bit when you head below decks to find a striking but somewhat impractical full-beam owner’s cabin stretching at waist height across the gap between the two hulls and a second rather dark guest double wedged into the port hull. Two bathrooms are a handy bonus but it’s hard to see when the tiny single crew cabin is going to get much use.

In reality, with the outdoor space, seakeeping and price of a 55-60-footer but the speed, fuel efficiency and sleeping capacity of a sporty 45-footer, it’s more likely to be used as a very stylish and capable day boat/weekender than a true long-distance cruiser.

Absolute Navetta 62

Keen Absolute fans can look forward to a new Navetta 58 and 66 in the near future, but the big news in Cannes was the world debut of the Navetta 62. While a lot of boats claim to have a pair of owner’s cabins, this one genuinely delivers it.

Up in the bow, you have Absolute’s trademark forward-facing bed, with a choice of furniture beneath vast taper-free hull windows, plus an authentic walk-in wardrobe and a spacious bathroom with remarkable headroom up in the forepeak. Amidships is another sterling cabin – this time, a full-beam space with a lovely port bathroom, comprising split toilet and shower compartments through fluted glass doors.

There’s also a central sink and cabinet section with a mirror that drops down at the touch of a button to reveal another big hull window. And on the starboard side, the show boat’s elegant storage cabinet can again be exchanged for whatever you need.

Between these two sections sits a port day heads and a starboard double with access to a utility space and engineering room that runs beneath the forward cabin all the way to the bow thruster. The crew cabin is also a very strong space, not least thanks to an access point on the port side of the transom, which enables the inclusion of a large central window that opens out onto the swim platform.

There’s also plenty of space in here for a pair of beds, a washer dryer and a direct route to the very well appointed engine room.

In terms of the day spaces, the bow lounge is very decent and the freestanding furniture of the aft cockpit is highly versatile. But the stars of the show are the saloon and the flybridge – the flybridge for its sheer scale and the saloon for the loveliness of its layout and finish.

You get a single-level deck with a port galley and a starboard dining station next to a big vertical drop-down window. That leads onto a midships lounge, before ascending to a dramatic twin helm on the starboard side.

And while the space has a lovely flow, thanks to clever lighting, a single-level deck and a combination of plunging windows and cutaway bulwarks, the various zones are also subtly delineated by means of elegant slatted partitions. We’re big fans of the Navetta line and this fusion of style, luxury and practicality is exactly the reason why.

Outer Reef 780 Adventure

The fact that the maiden voyage for Outer Reef’s new 780 Adventure involved a non-stop 2,300nm delivery trip from the yard in Holland to the South of France tells you everything you need to know about this new explorer yacht.

Cruising day and night to get to the Cannes show in time, it achieved this feat without stopping to refuel and without a single reported issue. Given it’s also the first Outer Reef to be built at its new European yard, the first to be constructed out of steel and the first of the new Adventure range, that’s an impressive feat.

Having had a good poke around it, we’re not surprised. Everything about the 780 feels built to last. The steel hull displaces over 100 tonnes and features a full-length keel plus Sleipner curved fin stabilisers to keep it steady whatever the weather.

Naturally it’s Category A rated for offshore use but thanks to a fast displacement hull form, it’s also capable of 19 knots with the largest engines. And with a genuine LOA of 23.99m (rather than a LLL) it can anchor closer to shore in areas like the South of France than many of its nominal sub-24m competitors.

This first boat was fitted with the standard 425hp Cummins engines for a top speed of 11 knots and a claimed range of over 4,000nm at 7 knots or 2,500nm at 9.5 knots. It also had the four-cabin layout with two good doubles and two generous twins, plus a further two bunk bed crew cabins, which could happily function as spill-over guest cabins. But we’d love to see how big the full-beam owner’s cabin would be in the more lavish three-cabin layout.

There’s also a huge amount of toy storage. This one was equipped with a Williams 435 jet tender and a Seadoo Spark on the bow plus a pair of Seabobs in the lazarette but you could go larger on both fronts. In short if you want the range and seakeeping of an explorer yacht with the style, speed and luxury of a modern navetta, this will take some beating.

Delta 72

While Cannes is full of bright and memorable exotica, one boat that delivered the drama in a cool, understated package was the new Delta flagship.

Built from carbon fibre to peg back the weight to just 31 tonnes, the show boat was equipped with twin IPS-1350s for a top end of 40 knots and a range of 500 miles. That’s enough to go from Mallorca to Monaco without a break – and while that’s pretty impressive for a 72-footer, you can also beef things up with quadruple 600hp outboards for speeds in excess of 50 knots.

Though it’s built in Estonia, it’s designed in Sweden with input from the well regarded Mannerfelt studio, so you can expect it to be agile and fuel efficient as well as quick. At 30 knots it burns just 6.5 litres per nautical mile.

The on-board environment also feels very positive. It uses big superstructure windows with narrow mullions for outstanding light and views from the saloon. There are safe, convivial lounges at bow and stern with lots of facing furniture, framed within teak-lined walkaround decks and deep, secure bulwarks.

The four-man helm is also sociable, and so is the central saloon dining station, thanks to a port dinette and facing starboard settee. There’s even a sunbed for up to four people perched on the rooftop so you can escape the party down below. If we’re being picky, the access ladder to the upper sunbeds is steep and a shade awkward but unless your Grandad fancies heading up top, that’s unlikely to be an issue.

As for the lower deck, a very decent ensuite crew cabin does a good job of insulating the owner’s full-beam cabin from the engine bay. The owner’s cabin itself is restrained and classy, and there’s also a VIP bow cabin, a starboard double and a single cabin to port behind the day heads.

With simple styling, pared-back furniture, pale woods and subtle fabrics, the ambience is attractive too. Think high-end Nordic spa vibes and you’re pretty much there.

Aquila 46 Yacht

Powercat specialist, Aquila, appeared in Cannes with one of the most spacious and appealing yachts we’ve ever seen at this length. Of course, with a beam of more than 23ft, volume is pretty good but it’s not actually the beamiest cat in the world. Instead, what makes the difference here are the sensibly sized side decks and a raised bow shape that enables some very cool creativity with the deck layouts.

At the forward end of the main deck saloon, there are steps down to each hull and a third step down to an intermediate deck level where the owner’s cabin inhabits the entire forward beam. A series of letter slot windows look out onto the foredeck, where the raised foredeck also provides sufficient space for a proper bow lounge. That in itself is a very handy feature, as a full-beam cabin and a bow lounge tend to be mutually exclusive on boats at this length.

That raised forward shape also does a good job of keeping the bridge deck well above wave height but the owner still gets a low-level office to starboard and an impressive bathroom with split toilet and shower facilities to port.

If you need more cabins, you can divide that owner’s suite into two or three doubles but either way, the two ensuite guest cabins, further aft in each hull, are entirely unaffected.

Back outside, the big sociable flybridge gets direct access from the bow lounge, plus lots of companion seating for the central helm and a big L-shaped wet bar opposite the dining station, usefully wrapped around the aft stairwell to make best use of space. There’s some additional sunbathing space aft and the lower cockpit looks decent too, not least because of an attractive bar that extends out from the internal galley.

True, the shape of the design means that forward visibility is a shade tight from the main saloon, particularly if you perch at the starboard dinette. But you can still opt for a main deck helm; and while the side windows are usefully deep, the use of ‘floating’ foredeck benches means you get a handy low-level view through the bow cabin’s windows too.

Princess has lifted the lid on its all-new C-Class model. And it’s every bit as exciting as hoped. Not only is it the first centre console design from the normally conservative British yard, it’s also the first to feature a stepped hull, outboard or sterndrive power, and two types of folding terraces.

Called the C48, it will be available in both Open and Deck Saloon versions and will be the new entry point to the Princess range when production of the V40 stops next year.

Featuring a modern centre-console design with deep walkaround decks, a hard top and an open bow, it picks up on the trend for fast, stylish weekenders popularised by the likes of Fjord, Pardo and Boston Whaler.

In Open guise the whole cockpit is open to the elements at the back and sides but sheltered by a wraparound windscreen that morphs into a long, full beam hard top. The Deck Saloon variant uses the same basic architecture but with glazed sides and sliding aft doors to create an enclosed saloon up front with a smaller open cockpit aft. An optional opening glass sunroof and helm doors on both sides ensure occupants can still enjoy plenty of fresh air and easy access to the side decks.

It will be quick too. With the largest outboard option of triple 600hp Mercury V12 Verados, it will be good for an estimated 53 knots, making this the fastest Princess yet. Crucially, for European markets it will also be available with a pair of Volvo Penta’s brand new 480hp D6 diesel sterndrives. These should still deliver a top speed of 33-35 knots.

But perhaps the biggest surprise is Princess’s decision to fit folding side platforms. Unusually there are two different versions of these. As standard it comes with relatively small half-height hinged bulwark sections that fold out manually to become seats over the water but these can be upgraded to longer, full height quarter platforms that fold down flush with the deck to create proper terraces.

The cockpit is fairly typical of the breed, albeit with a number of clever twists. Both variants have three individual helm seats immediately behind the windshield but in the Open version the driver gets the middle seat, whereas in the Deck Saloon the driver sits on the right next to the starboard side door.

The Princess C48 Open

Moving aft, the differences become more obvious. The Open version has a large outdoor galley behind the helm seats with full width wetbars on either side of a walkway. This backs onto a large dinette with benches facing each other across a folding table. The rearmost bench also has a sliding backrest so it can be pushed forwards to extend the length of the aft sunpad.

The Deck Saloon has a smaller galley in the saloon opposite an L-shaped internal dinette and a second smaller outside dinette in the aft cockpit.

The lower deck is just as versatile. The standard layout is largely open plan with a U-shaped dinette forward that converts to a double bed, a small secondary galley module to port and a separate head and shower compartment to starboard. There’s also a private double cabin behind the companionway steps with a forward-facing bed to port and a sofa to starboard. However, you can choose to make a second cabin by enclosing the bow area with a bulkhead and cabin door and replacing the dinette with a permanent double bed.

Without any interior renderings to go, it’s hard to know how spacious these will be. The deep walkaround decks and open bow will have an impact on headroom down below but with an LOA just shy of 49ft and a beam of 13ft 8in (wider than a V50), there should still be enough volume for it to feel suitably luxurious.

As usual the C48 is the work of both Princess’s in-house team and Olesinski Design, but the hull itself is by American fast-boat guru Michael Peters. This features a distinctive patented SVVT (Stepped Vee Ventilated Tunnel) hull with two steps cutting across the usual variable-vee profile, the back one of which ventilates a shallow tunnel running along the aft third of the keel all the way back to the transom. This is said to improve speed, fuel efficiency and ride quality without the reduced grip experienced by some stepped hulls during a high speed turn.

The diesel model has a fuel capacity of 1,500 litres, while the outboard model holds up to 2,346 litres of petrol.

The first C48 will make its show debut at Fort Lauderdale 2026. It will be an Open with triple outboards. The first Deck Saloon with sterndrives is expected to be shown at Dusseldorf 2028. It will be built in Plymouth on the same site as the current V40, which will cease production shortly. Pricing has not yet been announced but expect it to start at around £800,000 ex taxes.

Princess CEO Will Green describes the C48 as a “defining moment for Princess” and “a bold entry into an entirely new sector for us”.

Over the last 30 years, this award-winning boatbuilder has become well known for the kind of long-range blue-water motor yachts that enable you to go pretty much anywhere, but the Outer Reef 780 Adventure is largest and most capable Adventure-line motor yacht yet looks like a particularly capable explorer.

Prestige M7

The Prestige M7 will make its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival as a multihull with superyacht styling.

While Prestige has built its name on flybridge cruisers from 40-75ft, its first powercat in 2022 marked a significant shift of focus.

The M48 claimed to offer the volume of a 60-footer on a 48ft platform; the superyacht-style M8 then targeted the 85ft market with a 65ft platform; and here, making its world debut as the third in the Prestige multihull line, is the Prestige M7 that slots neatly between the two.

Itama 54

New Itamas don’t come along very often, so the launch of a brand new Itama 54 at this year’s Cannes show to plug the gap between the current 45 and 62 is big news.

Passers-by wouldn’t necessarily notice that the Itama 54 is new because the whole point of owning an Itama is that they have a timeless look which stays true to the design principles laid down by its founder, Mario Amati (Itama when spelt backwards), in 1969.

That means plenty of power, traditional shaft drive propulsion, a heavily built deep vee hull and a pure open design with a big cockpit, a long foredeck and a very clean 1970s aesthetic devoid of guardrails.

Beneteau GT35 + GT40

The new Beneteau GT35 and GT40 will appear at the Cannes Yachting Festival as a range aiming to offer ‘villa living on the water’

The Beneteau team must have had a busy few months because as well as launching a brand new Swift Trawler 37 at Cannes (see p12-13), they are also premiering an entirely new range of Gran Turismo sportscruisers and a revised Grand Trawler 63.

The interesting thing about the new GT line is that they’ve started again from scratch rather than simply adding to, or remodelling, the existing range. For the moment, Beneteau will only be offering two new GT models – a 35 and a 40 – but a 50 is in the pipeline for January 2026 as well.

Aquila 46 Yacht

The Aquila 46 Yacht is conceived as a long-distance boat – but while Aquila’s talk of an “explorer aesthetic” feels a bit of a stretch, the new 46 makes a far more convincing claim to off-grid capability by simple virtue of its design.

It comes with a Category-A RCD rating and an 1,800L fuel tank as standard, plus the option of a second 800L tank for extra autonomy. You can also opt for an Aquila Hydro Glide Foil System for additional range, plus an uprated lithium-ion battery bank to reduce your reliance on a diesel generator for electrical power.

De Antonio D60

Notwithstanding the electric 23ft powercat at the entry point to the De Antonio fleet, there’s a very distinct formula to the brand’s boats that has been really successful at everything from 29 to 50ft. But can it translate effectively onto a new De Antonio D60 flagship? Well De Antonio certainly appears to think so.

Sirena 60

The Cannes Yachting Festival will feature a world debut, the Sirena 60, which is an update to the extremely popular 58

Sirena Marine has chosen Cannes as the venue for the world debut of its new Sirena 60. Designed as an update to the popular Sirena 58 flybridge cruiser, it’s immediately clear that this new extended version features plenty more superstructure glazing for improved light and views in the saloon, but the developments go much deeper than that.

Steeler Bronson 65

Dutch builder Steeler Yachts will unveil its new Steeler Bronson 65 in Cannes as the flagship of the brand’s performance range

Built entirely from aluminium and powered by a pair of Volvo Penta D11 IPS-950s or 1350s, the Steeler Bronson 65 certainly looks the part, thanks to a fine entry, a reverse bow and a single continuous hull window that runs all the way from the forepeak to the engineroom. But it’s well set up for practical day boating too.

Volume, cruising practicality and aesthetic loveliness rarely go hand-in-hand but if that’s what you’re after, the Absolute stand in Cannes Boat Show is a great place to look.

The celebrated Piacenza-based builder is set to launch its new Absolute Navetta 62 – a three-cabin, three-bathroom trawler-style design that puts big internal space, easy on board movement and plentiful storage at the heart of things. But it couples that with established Absolute design cues, like masses of superstructure glazing, huge diamond-shaped hull windows, cut-out bulwarks, a reverse transom and glass balustrades to bring the classical trawler style bang up to date.

It’s a great looking (and extremely distinctive) boat, and with its upright superstructure, a beamy flybridge that extends out over the side decks and modular outdoor furniture that can be arranged however you choose, there’s all kinds of space to play with and all kinds of ways to tailor that to your needs.

Huge windows, cutaway bulwarks and slatted ‘bulkheads’ work a treat

The single-level teak-lined flybridge provides a casual aft lounge, a central dining station and wet bar and a forward end that treats the redesigned helm to plenty of low-level companion seating. The hardtop comes with either an opening sunroof or a set of photovoltaic panels, and if you head down to the bow, the forward lounging space gets an extra dose of style thanks to a striking cantilevered sunbed that extends beyond its base and is augmented with subtle ambient underlighting.

The cockpit backs all of that up with a pair of facing modular benches, an electrically operated awning and a wet bar with third helm. The saloon also looks engagingly different. It features an aft galley and dining area and a slightly angled forward dinette. The helm might be a shade lonely but with those floor-to-ceiling windows and cutaway bulwarks, light and views should be some of the strongest in the sector.

The Absolute way of doing things is in full view down below too. The owner’s cabin, for instance, is positioned forward with the ensuite facilities in the forepeak. That frees up the broader part of the bow for a forward-facing king-size bed and the option of additional cabinets or an intimate seating area beneath the big port window.

The full-beam VIP cabin amidships is designed to feel like a second master suite, thanks to its king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe and elegant bathroom. And there’s also a twin cabin with 190cm of headroom, as well as the option of an ensuite crew cabin aft with one or two additional berths.

One of Cannes’ most exciting world debuts will be from Swedish builder, Delta Powerboats. Initially commissioned by a loyal Delta client, the new 72ft Delta Powerboats 72 looks well placed to provide a natural upgrade route from the smaller coupé and open models without forcing owners to change the game entirely by having to default to the explorer-style flybridge-equipped 88 Carbon.

And if the restrained lines and staggered geometric hull windows suggest there’s something quite premium about this boat, the underpinnings very much back that up.

While the hull is sprinkled with magic fairy dust from Sweden’s iconic offshore performance studio, Mannerfelt Design, the construction process makes extensive use of vacuum-infused carbon fibre composite to create an extremely stiff but lightweight structure.

The restful saloon is supplemented with outdoor seating for 20 people

With an all-in weight of just 27 tonnes, Delta is aiming to combine ‘spectacular’ seagoing performance with sector-leading efficiency. You can either maximise that efficiency with a pair of Volvo Penta D13-1000s on IPS drives for a cruising range of around 550nm or you can push the envelope with quadruple Mercury Verado V12 600s.

If you do opt for the big outboards, you can expect a remarkable top end of around 52 knots, plus an uprated 6,000-litre fuel tank to keep your cruising range up at around 400 miles.

Clearly, Delta has expended a lot of effort fulfilling its promise of thoroughbred performance but it seems to have lavished an equal degree of care on the deck arrangements. Designed specifically for large day parties, it comes with multiple exterior lounge options, including a sociable cockpit with symmetrical L-shaped units, which face aft toward a central island sunbed with a forward-facing bench.

From here, a fully open transom leads down to a hydraulic platform, which is well able to handle any overspill of guests from the cockpit party. The transverse bow lounge and sunbed add to the outdoor options and there’s also a private sunlounger set into the aft end of the roof structure. Small wonder then that Delta claims the new 72 provides outdoor seating for as many as 20 people at a time.

Perhaps more remarkably, though, the 72 also comes with space for four cabins. There’s a full-beam owner’s cabin amidships, plus a VIP bow cabin, a starboard guest double and a port twin. All of them are ensuite and yet there’s still room for a couple of crew in a transverse bunk cabin with a heads and separate shower, accessed beneath a service unit on the port side of the cockpit.

Azimut is coming out all guns blazing at Cannes Boat Show with not one but three new show debuts. The freshest of these is the Seadeck 7, which was still having the finishing touches applied to it as we write this.

Like its smaller sibling, the Seadeck 6, which was launched earlier this summer, the Seadeck 7 has a strong focus on sustainability and will be the first Azimut to feature a full diesel electric hybrid drive. Technical details of this have not yet been released but it’s likely to use Volvo Penta IPS drives and D13 engines linked to a smaller electric motor and battery pack for silent manoeuvring and low-speed cruising over short distances.

It’s not just the drive system that contributes towards a claimed 40% reduction in emissions. Extensive use of carbon fibre and a vacuum-infused hull keeps weight down for improved fuel efficiency, while reconstituted cork decking and carpets made from recycled plastics reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials.

Sliding side doors provide a closer connection with the sea

The design follows the template set by the Seadeck 6 with softer lines that reflect its focus on relaxation and a closer connection with the sea. At the heart of this is Azimut’s ‘Fun Island’ featuring a drop-down staircase into the sea and folding platforms on either side of a central sunbed and dining area. The starboard one even has fittings for a hammock stand built into it.

The Pearl 82 could well be one of the surprise stars of the Cannes Boat Show 2024. No other boat in its class appears to pack in quite as much as the new Pearl 82 yet it still manages to undercut most of the competition on price.

The key to this clever packaging is a raised pilothouse design that leaves room beneath it for a main deck master cabin with its own foredeck terrace, as well as four more ensuite doubles on the lower deck. The innovations continue further aft with folding side platforms, two different cockpit configurations and a garage that’s large enough to house a Williams 395 and a Sea Doo jetski.

Interior styling by British designer Kelly Hoppen should ensure it looks as classy on the inside as it does on the outside, while a range of MAN engines on V-drives should give it the performance to match its European-built rivals.

Founded in 1977, the Cannes boat show takes place in the beautiful French city every September and showcases almost 600 boats, including motor yachts, superyachts, catamarans, tenders and sailing yachts.

The official line-up of boats for the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival features hundreds of boats in all shapes and sizes. In fact the show is so bog that it can be difficult to know where to start in terms of taking a look at the latest models.

Fear not, MBY’s Alex Smith has taken a look through the programme and has pulled together his expert list of the best boats at Cannes Boat Show.

Azimut Seadeck 7

Azimut is coming out all guns blazing at Cannes with not one but three new show debuts. The freshest of these is the Seadeck 7, which was still having the finishing touches applied to it just weeks before the show.

Like its smaller sibling, the Seadeck 6, which was launched earlier this summer, the 7 has a strong focus on sustainability and will be the first Azimut to feature a full diesel electric hybrid drive.

Ferretti Infynito 80

The big news from Ferretti this year is the second model in the Infynito range. Like its bigger sister, the Infynito 95, the 80 is all about comfort, volume and refinement rather than sporty looks and high speed. To that end it features a bluff bow, a wide beam of almost 21ft (6.36m) and a raised pilothouse design that frees up the main deck for more entertaining space.

However, the defining feature of every Infynito is the unusual covered foredeck lounge dubbed the ‘all-season terrace’. With its louvred sunroof and privacy-glass bow window, it provides enough shelter to use all year round while still allowing guests to enjoy the views and feeling of being outside.

Owners can choose to have this fitted with either an extending dinette for alfresco meals or a bar and stools with a full-width opening window into the galley. With no lower helm to worry about, this galley area occupies the entire front section of the saloon, leaving the rear half free for a large lounge and either an inside bar or dining area.

Princess S65

Nestling alongside the pontoons at the Vieux Port will be a pair of Princess world premieres in the form of the S65 and S80. As the smaller of the two, the S65 might lack the gorgeous air intakes we so admired on the S72 but it still delivers all the low-profile loveliness you would expect, thanks to a flybridge that is shunted aft and dropped deep, creating plenty of space for a set of sunroofs above the main deck helm.

The new boat will also share the same four-cabin, three-bathroom arrangement as the F65 but it’s the outdoor spaces that are really likely to impress.

At the back end, a huge fore-and-aft sunbed-topped tender garage is positioned between a neatly conceived engineering compartment to port and an ensuite crew cabin to starboard. Forward of this, a U shaped seating and dining area looks forward toward an inside-outside galley and a pleasantly sheltered corner seat to starboard.

Sunseeker Predator 55

This is the first chance to see the new Predator 55 in the flesh, giving potential buyers the opportunity to compare it with its sibling, the Superhawk 55. The transformation from open weekender to hard-top sportscruiser certainly looks to be as clever as it is comprehensive, giving the Predator its own distinctive character as well as a more cruising-oriented design.

Owners can choose between a galley-up or galley-down layout, and if you go with the former, the vacant space below deck can be specified as a lower saloon, a third cabin or a utility room. Two other larger cabins, each with its own ensuite bathroom and additional headroom, provide greater comfort for guests.

Pearl 82

This could well be one of the surprise stars of the show.

No other boat in its class appears to pack in quite as much as the new Pearl 82 yet it still manages to undercut most of the competition on price.

Absolute Navetta 53

Looking to escape Cannes’ sweltering festival pontoons? Absolute’s new 53 is a great way to do it. It comes with all the latest features you would want from a modern Navetta cruiser – plunging gunwales, large aft cutaways, huge staggered hull windows and vertical glazing in an upright superstructure.

While that makes it look much more dynamic than the previous 52, it’s good to see that the internal spaces are organised in much the same way. On the lower deck, the forward VIP takes up the slack for the full-beam owner’s cabin and large port bathrooms with a diagonal double berth to make best use of the day heads’ angled forward bulkhead.

There’s also a twin to starboard down here, and up in the saloon, the floor-to-ceiling windows are combined with rounded corners and subtly angled furniture to add extra charm to the 53’s traditional big-volume trawler-style space.

Beneteau Swift Trawler 54

While the styling of Beneteau’s new Swift Trawler 54 looks likely to flex more toward the smaller Swift Trawler models than the superyacht-inspired Grand Trawler 62, the ingenuity behind the internal design looks very strong.

Rather than simply revel in the volume that a trawler design can bring, Beneteau has decided to divide each level into discernible zones for extra intimacy and homeliness.

The saloon, for instance, features three sections – an upper dinette adjacent to the helm; a casual lower lounge with a coffee table; and a transverse galley between the two. The galley is cordoned off from each space by means of a glass screen but you can still communicate easily or escape to the port side deck by means of the galley door. And the delineation of the deck levels also collaborates in that separation, enabling you to step aside from the main party and chill out in peace, exactly as you might at home.

Down below, you get a full-beam owner’s cabin with an ensuite bathroom, plus a forward VIP, a port bunk room and a port bathroom with Jack and Jill doors – and while that might sound quite formulaic, the design intelligence down here again looks pretty impressive.

FIM 500 Regina

Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi (FIM) has come a long way in a short space of time on the back of a range of stylish open boats from 34ft to 47ft. During this year’s Cannes festival, the yard will be revealing its largest craft to date, the new FIM 500 Regina.

The most distinctive feature of the new 500 is a swooping carbon-fibre hard top that links up with the windscreen to create a nicely sheltered helm position. This incorporates 3kW of solar panels to help power the ship’s systems and keep charge the batteries charged. Another neat idea is a two-part sunpad on the foredeck with a sliding front section that can be pushed forward to create an aft facing bench at the bow.

Solaris Power 60 Open

Solaris has earned itself a reputation for building some of the prettiest motor boats afloat and the new flagship of the Open range will only serve to enhance that view. Curves in all the right places, an elegant flowing side profile and smart but restrained detailing give it effortless presence on the water. Even with a plain white gelcoat (Solaris typically opts for bolder colours), it oozes style.

It’s a similar story up on deck where folding side terraces increase both the size and the outlook of its already generous cockpit, while a long open hard top (with the colour matched to the hull) provides plenty of shade for its occupants.

Pardo GT75

antiere del Pardo, an icon of Italian boating for more than 50 years, is set to launch three new boats at Cannes, and for motoryacht aficionados, the most exciting of them will be its new flagship GT75.

While this third and largest GT model is designed to straddle the slick, feel-good day boats of the Walkaround P Class and the more practical four-season Endurance platforms of the fly-equipped E Class, it certainly appears to flex quite decisively in favour of outdoor entertainment.

The aft deck, for instance, features a huge beach club zone, spread across three different levels with a set of fold-down terraces that are set higher than usual and can be adjusted to any angle, enabling you to use them as sofas, sun loungers or lateral dive platforms.

The space between them can be left open for freestanding furniture and tender stowage or it can be fitted with a huge central sun pad above an enclosed tender garage. If you opt for the former, you also get direct access to the beach club from the owner’s cabin through a set of steps leading up to sliding glass doors.

Pershing GTX80

Although the GTX80 made a brief appearance at the Venice show in June, this will be the first chance for most visitors to get up close and personal with it. As with the original GTX116, this is. Pershing’s attempt to create a crossover yacht that offers the style and brand values of its high performance craft, with a bit more space in exchange for a little less pace.

Triple 1,000hp IPS1350s still push it to a useful 34 knots (its sister yacht, the 8X, tops out at 48 knots) but now the focus is on guests having just as much fun at anchor as the skipper has underway. Folding side terraces and a two-tier bathing platform combine to make a vast beach club zone where guests can spread out close to the water, and because the LOA is genuinely under 24m (rather than the LLL), it’s not subject to the strict anchoring limitations affecting many craft in the South of France.

Wilder 60

This isn’t just a new boat. As the first entry from WiLder, an offshoot of parent company, Wider Yachts, this is the world debut of an entirely new brand. The core idea behind it is to introduce superyacht-level comfort, refinement and detailing on an easy-to-handle 60-footer that can be fully customised in line with the owner’s requirements. And in light of Wider’s recent work with the WiderCat 92 multihull and the Moonflower 72 superyacht project, the company looks very well placed to make that happen.

Built entirely from aluminium, boat number 1 looks likely to come with a fairly conventional layout, comprising a collection of central seating and sunbathing furniture, orbited by full walkaround side decks.

Those side decks ascend up a trio of steps toward the bow, helping create the volume down below for a private forward owner’s suite to supplement the guest and/or crew cabin amidships. Between these two zones, the central saloon will feature a galley and sofa, plus a starboard day heads.

Fiart P58

Designer Stefano Pastrovich did brilliant things with Fiart’s original P48 and he will again be showcasing his talent in Cannes with a new P-Line flagship. Like the P48, the P58 is a multi-purpose cruiser with an elegant multi-tier main deck, a raised cushion-lined bow and a cavernous space below decks that’s tailor-made for customisation.

In terms of layout, the new boat is split into four key sections. At the back end, a pair of asymmetrical sunbeds looks aft toward a stern deck with a drop-down transom. Ahead of that, you take a step up to a large dinette with an alfresco galley, a dining table for eight and a pair of extra sunbeds.

The bow supplements that with a slightly recessed sun deck and the option of a retractable Japanese-style table. And down below, that multi-tier main helps create a huge central lounge with nearly 10ft of headroom, lots of natural light and a big galley with an American-style fridge. As standard you get two large ensuite “owner’s cabins”, one forward and one aft and, in line with Fiart’s quest to deliver a taste of the superyacht lifestyle, there’s a third heads dedicated solely to day guests, as well as a crew cabin with its own ensuite.

YOT 41

Cannes has become a hotbed for powercat premieres and the YOT 41 is likely to be one of most interesting yet. Just a year after the launch of its debut 36-footer, the new YOT 41 promises more comfort, more power and more fun, and its capacity to equip a family for a longer cruise is a key part of that.

It comes with two spacious cabins, each with private ensuite facilities, as well as a deck layout that includes a pair of fold-down aft platforms that expand the beam to more than 19ft. That means you have about 270 sq ft to play with and the modular furniture is designed to make the very most of that. Rated to carry up to 20 people, it features a pair of dinettes at the stern with convertible backrests and tables so you can rig it for sunbathing.

You can also opt for an electric platform between the outboards with a 200kg lift capacity, enabling it to operate as a chill-out zone, a toy-launch station, a swim platform or a simple passerelle. In addition to the squared-off bow lounge, you also get a midships settee and galley, as well as the luxury of four helm seats in the shelter of the wraparound screen.

Swan Arrow

Once you’ve finished investigating Pardo’s GT75, why not come and take a look at this? Having kick-started its powerboating mission in 2021 with a startlingly elegant 43-footer known as the Shadow, this famous Finnish builder is back with a 76ft walkaround weekender that adopts much the same approach. You get the vertical stem, the flared gunwales, the open transom and the hardtop. But this time, the grander scale enables the inclusion of roof-mounted sun pads and accommodation for up to six.

While the standard belo- decks layout comprises a full-beam owner’s suite and a forward VIP, separated by a downstairs lounge with galley and day heads, the optional three-cabin layout sacrifices the lower seating area for an extra twin.

Cranchi 62

Cranchi is launching two new boats at the show – this all-new 62 and the 67 Corsa, a sportsfly version of its existing 67 flybridge. It’s the former that is likely to prove more interesting, if only because it’s the first big Cranchi to feature a plumb bow.

But that’s not the only innovation. The 62 also gets a tender garage that converts into a beach club and a hydraulic platform capable of carrying a jet ski. Teak decking that extends through from the cockpit into the galley and dining area blurs the boundaries between inside and out, while a sunroof over the forward end of the saloon and a skipper’s door to the side deck should do the same for the helm position.

More guest areas on the flybridge and a safe and sociable foredeck lounge provide extra functionality. And that continues below deck with three ensuite cabins and an optional crew cabin. We’re not sure if the pink tinge to the renderings is a genuine hull colour or a whim of the artist but we look forward to finding out.

Like its bigger sister, the Infynito 95, the Infynito 80 is all about comfort, volume and refinement rather than sporty looks and high speed. To that end it features a bluff bow, a wide beam of almost 21ft (6.36m) and a raised pilothouse design that frees up the main deck for more entertaining space.

However, the defining feature of every Infynito is the unusual covered foredeck lounge dubbed the ‘all-season terrace’. With its louvred sunroof and privacy-glass bow window, it provides enough shelter to use all year round while still allowing guests to enjoy the views and feeling of being outside.

With the helm up above, the main deck is given over to entertaining

Owners can choose to have this fitted with either an extending dinette for alfresco meals or a bar and stools with a full-width opening window into the galley. With no lower helm to worry about, this galley area occupies the entire front section of the saloon, leaving the rear half free for a large lounge and either an inside bar or dining area.

While the 95 is a proper tri-deck model with a fully enclosed upper deck, this new 80 has a more conventional open flybridge with a hard top over the front half. Owners can opt to have the windscreen and side windows raised to meet this and create a semi-enclosed area if they feel the need for more protection.

Power comes from a pair of conventional 1,200hp MAN diesels, giving a modest top speed of 21 knots and a cruising range of 1,000nm at 12 knots. In keeping with the trend for silent running at anchor, it packs a lithium-ion battery with sufficient grunt to power all the ship’s systems overnight without needing to fire up the generator.

Ferretti will also be exhibiting a facelifted version of its popular 670 flybridge. As well as tweaks to the exterior styling and interior fit-out, it features a new flybridge layout with more seating, a better dining area, an aft sunpad and a hard top with sunroof. No images of it have yet been released.

This is the first chance to see the new Predator 55 in the flesh, giving potential buyers the opportunity to compare it with its sibling, the Superhawk 55. The transformation from open weekender to hard-top sportscruiser certainly looks to be as clever as it is comprehensive, giving the Predator its own distinctive character as well as a more cruising-oriented design.

Owners can choose between a galley-up or galley-down layout, and if you go with the former, the vacant space below deck can be specified as a lower saloon, a third cabin or a utility room. Two other larger cabins, each with its own ensuite bathroom and additional headroom, provide greater comfort for guests.

Although the Pershing GTX80 made a brief appearance at the Venice show in June, this will be the first chance for most visitors to get up close and personal with it. As with the original GTX116, this is Pershing’s attempt to create a crossover yacht that offers the style and brand values of its high performance craft, with a bit more space in exchange for a little less pace.

Triple 1,000hp IPS1350s still push it to a useful 34 knots (its sister yacht, the 8X, tops out at 48 knots) but now the focus is on guests having just as much fun at anchor as the skipper has underway.

This isn’t just a new boat. As the first entry from Wilder, an offshoot of parent company, Wider Yachts, this is the world debut of an entirely new brand. The core idea behind it is to introduce superyacht-level comfort, refinement and detailing on an easy-to-handle 60-footer that can be fully customised in line with the owner’s requirements.

And in light of Wider’s recent work with the WiderCat 92 multihull and the Moonflower 72 superyacht project, the company looks very well placed to make that happen.

Built entirely from aluminium, boat number 1 looks likely to come with a fairly conventional layout, comprising a collection of central seating and sunbathing furniture, orbited by full walkaround side decks. While the styling of the new Beneteau Swift Trawler 54 looks likely to flex more toward the smaller Swift Trawler models than the superyacht-inspired Grand Trawler 62, the ingenuity behind the internal design looks very strong and will be well worth a look at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Rather than simply revel in the volume that a trawler design can bring, Beneteau has decided to divide each level into discernible zones for extra intimacy and homeliness. The saloon, for instance, features three sections – an upper dinette adjacent to the helm; a casual lower lounge with a coffee table; and a transverse galley between the two.

Headroom throughout the lower deck looks outstanding

The galley is cordoned off from each space by means of a glass screen but you can still communicate easily or escape to the port side deck by means of the galley door. And the delineation of the deck levels also collaborates in that separation, enabling you to step aside from the main party and chill out in peace, exactly as you might at home.

Down below, you get a full-beam owner’s cabin with an ensuite bathroom, plus a forward VIP, a port bunk room and a port bathroom with Jack and Jill doors – and while that might sound quite formulaic, the design intelligence down here again looks pretty impressive.

The port bunk room, for instance, takes up extra floor space, with an L-shaped bed arrangement, which is far more attractive for guests than vertical bunks, and while that does force the day heads to steal a bit of space from the port side of the VIP cabin, its integration makes the compromise look virtually seamless.

Back outside, the flybridge is just as zonal as the saloon. It comprises an open aft deck for stowage, a central dinette for meals and a forward companion section for lounging alongside the skipper. But it’s the ST54’s aft end that looks really unusual. Back here, the entire deck hinges up, revealing a huge lazarette with a manual davit for your toys. It does limit the usability of the cockpit, because if you want to gain access, you need to clear the aft part of the deck first. It’s good to see then that you can also opt for a more regular layout, with a crew cabin accessed via a simple cockpit hatch.

Cannes Boat Show has become a hotbed for powercat premieres and the YOT 41 is likely to be one of most interesting yet.

Just a year after the launch of its debut 36-footer, the new YOT 41 promises more comfort, more power and more fun, and its capacity to equip a family for a longer cruise is a key part of that. Designer Stefano Pastrovich did brilliant things with the original Fiart P48 and he will again be showcasing his talent at the Cannes Yachting Festival with a new P-Line flagship, the Fiart P58.

Like the Fiart P48, the Fiart P58 is a multi-purpose cruiser with an elegant multi-tier main deck, a raised cushion-lined bow and a cavernous space below decks that’s tailor-made for customisation.

In terms of layout, the new boat is split into four key sections. At the back end, a pair of asymmetrical sunbeds looks aft toward a stern deck with a drop-down transom. Ahead of that, you take a step up to a large dinette with an alfresco galley, a dining table for eight and a pair of extra sunbeds. The bow supplements that with a slightly recessed sun deck and the option of a retractable Japanese-style table.

The most distinctive feature of the new FIM 500 Regina is a swooping carbon-fibre hard top that links up with the windscreen to create a nicely sheltered helm position. This incorporates 3kW of solar panels to help power the ship’s systems and keep charge the batteries charged.

Another neat idea is a two-part sunpad on the foredeck with a sliding front section that can be pushed forward to create an aft-facing bench at the bow.

The owner’s cabin has the bed set at an angle

Fold-down terraces on either side of the cockpit create more deck space and open up the views, while pop-up backrests allow the dinette cushions to flex between sunpads and supportive seats. There’s also a large hydraulic bathing platform and tender garage.

Below decks are two generous cabins – a full-beam owner’s suite amidships with an offset berth, and a VIP suite in the bow. Patterned floors, big mirrors, and a glass walled shower looking into the owner’s cabin add a bit of fun.

The old Windy 39 Camira was launched in 2014 and enjoyed a successful seven-year production run during which 55 examples were built, but only ever as an open boat with diesel sterndrive power.

The Windy 40 Camira RS is a much bigger step up from the 39 than you might think. While the styling of the new T-Top got a mixed reception at the launch event, there’s no doubting the practicality of the elevated storage rack or the large retractable fabric sunroof.

It’s also good to see that the new helm station uses a push-button step that enables you to drive with your head out of the sunroof and a lifting throttle shelf to keep your standing drive comfortable.

The Edorado 8S may not be the first foiling electric boat but it certainly looks like being the most luxurious.

With its lavishly trimmed interior and countless clever details such as a folding electric transom, pop up cleats, swing out anchor platform, under helm fender holders and tilting glass bridge helm station, it looks and feels like the real deal. There’s even a neat little bar with twin champagne coolers, glasses and a bespoke leather picnic holdall hidden beneath the sunbed’s headrest.

Pleasing as these features are, it’s the drivetrain that will make or break this craft. Twin 55kW Torqeedo electric motors fed by a pair of BMW i3 batteries provide the power, while a pair of retracting foils fore and aft deliver sufficient lift for it to rise 2-3ft above the surface of the water.

This allows for a claimed top speed of 38 knots and a range of 40nm at 24 knots. We also like the fact that all three of the foil struts remain hidden inside the mouldings when raised yet it can still pootle along at displacement speeds in less than 2ft of water.

We haven’t yet had a chance to sea trial it but given the thought that has gone into its design and the quality of its carbon fibre hull and fittings, we have high hopes for it.

We’d love to know what planet Wally founder Luca Bassani is really from because it’s hard to believe that any human would come up with such outlandish ideas that not only work but make every other boat look staid by comparison.

His latest creation, the Wally WHY150, may follow the template set out by last year’s WHY200 but it’s no less surprising when you first set eyes on it. With its double-height
vertical bow towering over every other craft in the vicinity and a pilothouse that looks like a prop from a Star Wars movie, there is no mistaking it for any other craft.

In some ways it feels even more special than its larger sibling because of how much it packs into its relatively modest length – at 23.99m (78ft 8in) it sneaks in below the critical 24m ruling, avoiding the more onerous regulations and anchorage restrictions that apply to larger craft.

It also seems rather brighter below decks with larger hull windows and a choice of either two big VIP guest doubles or one VIP, one double and a twin. The Cannes show boat had the latter, and with all three cabins having their own ensuite bathrooms and enough space to move around with ease, this seems like the logical choice.

But it’s the main deck owner’s cabin that really sells this boat – the minute you step through the interconnecting door from the saloon you know you’re in for a treat. The view that greets you is genuinely breathtaking; windows wrap right around the elevated bow giving you a 270° panorama of your surroundings from the comfort of your bed.

If there’s a cooler master suite on a boat this size, we’ve yet to see it. Not even the pilothouse above it gets as good a view as this, although with its vast angular windscreens and designer carbon fibre helm seats it certainly matches it for drama.

Its position half way between the main and upper deck also leaves the flybridge free for outside entertaining, adding to the already generous beach club on the deck below.

We’ll have to wait for the sea trial to see how well it performs but if it can match that outrageous styling with a suitably refined ride and marina-friendly handling, Wally might have pulled off another floating miracle.

Though relatively modest in size and subtly styled by Italian standards, this FIM 440 Regina is far and away the most beautiful boat in FIM’s Regina line.

Conceived as a luxury walkaround day cruiser, it is designed to carry up to 14 people and to sleep up to four in a convertible forward lounge and a permanent mid cabin.

But it’s the details rather than the practicalities that are particularly memorable here. For instance, the starkly modern lower deck features beautiful natural birch bulkheads, coaxed into curves by means of traditional steam treatments.

Elements like the copper coloured doors at the lower galley also help elevate the experience. But while there’s loads to talk about on board this boat, the most astonishing exponent of FIM’s free-hand design style involves the heads compartment.

Here, on the starboard side, the mid cabin ensuite and the day heads inhabit the same cylinder of space, each toilet facing the other across a dual-access shower with entirely see-through doors.

Nimbus has taken a while to develop the Weekender version of its original 40ft Nimbus T11 but it has used that time to good effect, creating a boat that is more practical, more versatile and even more appealing than the fast but focused Tender version.

Launched simultaneously at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival and Southampton Boat Show, the Nimbus W11 is a boat that will be just as happy on the Côte d’Azur as it will in our more northern climes.

The starting point is the same efficient-running twin-stepped hull, but a new deck moulding not only creates more space and headroom down below but also a more user-friendly cockpit.

Key to that is an asymmetric layout with a wide deck-level walkway along the starboard side but only a vestigial sidedeck to port. This frees up space in the cockpit for a much larger and more sociable C-shaped seating/dining area along the port side with a folding backrest that converts the rear bench into a full-length sunpad.

Opposite this is a proper outdoor galley (rather than the T11’s smaller wetbar) with a two-ring burner, sink and multiple drawers for cutlery, crockery, glass and cookware plus two additional fridges in the base of the navigator’s bench.

However, our favourite feature is the drop- down storage panel at the back of the hardtop containing canopies that zip into place around it and turn the cockpit into a temporary wheelhouse.

That raised foredeck makes for a brighter, more spacious cabin down below with a permanent double berth forward, a bigger heads compartment with a separate toilet/shower cubicle and a second compact mid-cabin under the cockpit that would suffice for a kid’s cabin or occasional overnighting for adults; it’s a very handy overflow space.

As ever, the build quality, practical detailing and ergonomics look spot on. Neat touches like retaining clips on the inside of fender bins for the lines, filler caps recessed into the side decks so spills don’t stain the decks, and fold-out foot rests for both helm seats, add to the sense of this being a boat designed and built by fellow enthusiasts.

Both show boats were equipped with twin outboard engines but a diesel inboard option is on the way too.

Azimut’s biggest yacht yet, the Azimut Grande Trideck is a voluminous and distinctive wide-body design of more than 300 Gross Tons. The styling is by Alberto Mancini, who recently made quite a splash in the UK with his work on Fairline’s fab little F-Line 33, and the hull is from Pierluigi Ausonio, complete with wave-piercer to lengthen the waterline.

The design is intended to blur the boundaries between displacement and planing, and introduce efficiencies at transitional speeds for more flexible and practical cruising.

The Azimut Grande Trideck certainly makes a powerful first impression, as you arrive up the gangway and step onto a raised mezzanine-style aft deck, which is set slightly above main deck level and has the feel of a private viewing terrace.

Its pleasing elevation also prevents those awful people on the 50-metre superyacht next door from looking down at you.

There are several choices available in the layout, but essentially the Azimut Grande Trideck offers four ensuite cabins on the lower deck, a substantial, full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, and a captain’s cabin, or a much larger optional VIP cabin, on the upper deck.

As a fully-realised wide body design, the foredeck is a spacious and viable extension of the outdoor spaces, while that raised mezzanine not only allows for an unusually generous beach club beneath, but also shelters an attractive, low-level open-air space immediately forward, which Azimut describes as a private patio.

Power comes courtesy of MTU, with a choice of two engine models, and a claimed maximum speed of 25 knots.

All of which is very sober, sensible and reassuring, but it is the interior design by Achille Salvagni which will probably cause the biggest kerfuffle.

Just look at all that fantastic globular blobbiness, with nary a straight line in sight – if you like this sort of thing, this is just the sort of thing you’ll like.

The first two models were unveiled at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival in September. The Navan S30 open and Navan C30 cabin are based on the same twin-step hull platform with near-plumb bows, walkaround decks and forward cabins with separate heads.

The Navan S30 can either be left open or fitted with a T-top shade. The cockpit is designed around a clever central bench that can face forward or flip over to face aft. Doing this reveals a large wet bar module in the base of the seat that can be equipped with an ice box, hob and grill as well as the standard sink.

Two helm seats and another bench further aft with folding seats in both side coamings complete the layout.

The Navan C30 has a smaller aft cockpit with the same rear bench and folding side seats plus a wet bar running under a large flip-up window. This still leaves room inside the wheelhouse for a two-man helm seat with a reversible backrest and a second bench further aft.

Asymmetric doors on both sides (the port one is further forward than the starboard one) give access from the side decks and there’s an option for a large opening sunroof. Both models have sunpads on the foredeck and small bathing platforms on either side of the engine(s).

Given that Brunswick also owns Mercury, it’s no surprise that all Navans will be fitted with either single or twin Mercury outboard engines up to a maximum total of 600hp.

Navan product manager Sylvain Perret says performance is key to Navan’s appeal and expects most owners to opt for the bigger twin 250hp V6 or 300hp V8 outboards or a single 400hp V10 outboard.

With twin 300hp motors both the Navan S30 and C30 should reach 50 knots or 43 knots with a single 400hp V10. Initial sea trials of a C30 revealed a range of just over 170nm at 25 knots with the twin V8s or 200nm with the single V10.

A long list of options and an online configurator allow customers to kit out their boats with different hull colours, watersports equipment, heating and sound systems.

The Navans are being built in Poland and, at least initially, will be sold through Brunswick’s Quicksilver dealer network. In the UK, base prices start at £171,672 and £186,636 inc VAT respectively for the Navan S30 and C30 with twin Verado 225s. Expect to see both bigger and smaller models in future.

MBY editor Hugo Andreae says: “Every time I think the market for Axopar-style adventure boats has reached its zenith someone else chips with another new brand. That said, if anybody has the resources and scale to rival Axopar, Brunswick does and on the basis of these photos it looks to have done a decent job of it.”

The Catana Group is one of the world’s most prolific builders of sailing catamarans but now it has turned its attention to powercats, starting with this YOT 36.

Marketed under the brand name YOT (TOY spelled backwards), it will eventually include inboard- and outboard-powered craft of all different sizes, but first out of the traps is this new 36ft sporting weekender. 

The show demonstrator was fitted with a pair of 300hp Verado V8s for an estimated top speed of 35 knots, but it’s the stylish looks, clever packaging and versatile cockpit layout that are likely to impress buyers the most. 

At 3.99m wide, it is designed to fit into a standard 4m berth but folding bulwarks expand this to 5.4m at rest.

Two rows of twin bench seats with reversible back rests and fold-flat mechanisms allow them to face both ways or to link up to form sunbeds. Matching wet bars and tables also make this set-up ideal for long lunches afloat.

The most obvious difference is the back-end treatment of the Absolute Navetta 70, which in keeping with Absolute’s other recent launches, features a reverse raked transom with a glass balustrade and fretting of the bulwarks on either side.

The flybridge, which has its helm position on the centreline and is flanked by built-in corner sofas, is similarly open to interpretation with more freestanding furniture. The hardtop can either be fitted with a sunroof or solar panelling for the hotel loads.

The main saloon has a very similar layout to the Absolute Navetta 68 but appears to be even lighter and brighter if the renderings are to be believed. The galley, dining table and chairs are aft and the lounge forward.

The bridge area is a couple of steps higher than the rest of the saloon and partly screened off with two seats addressing the helm. Near vertical windscreens should ensure excellent visbility all round. There are four guest cabins amidships for up to eight guests.

Those oversized hull-windows at the bow give away the location of the owners’ cabin, which features a forward-facing bed to soak up the views. Its large ensuite is tucked into the bow. A VIP double occupies the space usually reserved for a full beam owner’s cabin.

Designed for a maximum speed in the mid-20s and a consistent high-teens fast cruise, the Absolute Navetta 70 will be propelled by twin Volvo Penta D13-1000/IPS1350 pods.

Invictus has long been famous for its axe-bowed TT day boats and GT weekenders, so it’s good to see that the new Invictus TT420 adopts the same premium Med-style formula that has won it such acclaim over the years.

The new Invictus TT420 echoes the established TT traits with symmetrical walkaround decks orbiting a central furniture arrangement.

That furniture comprises an aft sunbed and convertible dinette, plus an elegant forward sunbed and a midships galley behind a three-man helm. For a Med-friendly blend of shelter and openness, it also uses a swept carbon hardtop with integrated screen, open sides and built-in air vents.

Down below, the four-berth open-plan layout features convertible sofas in the bow and a twin cabin beneath the cockpit sole. These are divided, one from the other, by a central atrium with a fridge and work surface to port and a heads compartment with separate shower to starboard.

It’s well equipped too. Lined from bow to stern in natural teak and capable of accommodating 14 people, it also features a tender garage large enough for a 2.1m boat, plus the option of drop-down terraces on both sides.

Generous bulwarks promise plenty of internal security and twin 440hp Volvo Penta D6 engines on sterndrives bode well for the performance. As you would expect of Invictus, it’s also available in a range of classically muted tones, including “Personal White” and “Vogue White”.

But with the Invictus 420TT, as with the rest of the Invictus fleet, it’s likely to be the dramatic Christian Grande styling and the premium finish that really make the difference.

Among the huge fleet of powercats at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival was Four Winns’ debut multihull. Known as the Four Winns TH36, it’s a good looking boat by cat standards, with a pair of widely spaced outboards on the transom.

You can pick 300hp V8s for 30 knots or 350hp V10 outboards for 34 knots but either way, the deck layout here is very likeable.

The cockpit’s two L-shaped seating units can be slid together in the centre to create a complete unit which can then be cocooned beneath the shelter of the all-over canvases.

They can also be slid apart, creating a broad unbroken companionway from the aft passerelle-cum-swim-platform right the way forward to the squared-off bow lounge, where there’s lots of space for the entire ship’s company.

Back in the cockpit, a port galley sits opposite another seating unit – and in tandem with raised side decks, that creates the space for a pair of symmetrical double cabins, each with forward bathrooms and separate showers.

The cabin is focussed around a single central bucket seat with an F1-style wheel and futuristic helm console. There is room for a couple of extra passengers on a rear bench seat.

Sea trials have already been successfully completed at speeds of up to 32 knots using a conventional 115hp Mercury Verado outboard engine.

This is located beneath the “tailgate” and will ultimately be replaced by an electric sterndrive leg that will draw its power from a battery bank located underneath the “bonnet”.

Four independently adjustable foils enable it to start flying at 12 knots and, because the hull lifts clear of the surface, is said to offer an unusually refined ride.

Height sensors provide vital trim information. The carbon fibre construction includes cores created from recycled plastics and synthetic decking.

The electric boat version will include solar panelling on its horizontal surfaces. It will be built at the company’s Bologna facility from early next year with an expected on-water price of around €1 million (ex taxes).
